Hello fellow skittle owners. I am a n00b on here from ABQ and I just bought my srt4 a couple weeks ago and am looking into giving the car a new personality. Since I have aquired the car, I have swapped from my 18s to the stock rims, installed texalium S-style eyelines, removed the whale tale. I have on order a set of smoked GTS rear tail light covers. There isn’t much I want to do to the car but the next thing I want to do is suspension. I have read a bit about getting aftermarket springs and blowing the stock struts, but then a bunch of people say its completely fine on stock struts. I was looking into coilovers, but it is too over the top for what I want/need. I was looking into the eibach sportline springs. They have a pretty nice drop and harder springs than the prokit. I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with lowering springs and if it caused any problems with their SRT4 on stock struts.. Also, I have found mixed information on the drop that the sportlines provide. On two sites I saw 2†front drop, 2.4†rear drop, and on jscspeed.com and another site I saw 1.8†drop front and 1.8†drop rear. Can anyone shed any light on this conflicting information? And if anyone has pictures of their skittle dropped with lowering springs, particularily on stock rims, I would like to see pics if possible and a review on how it rides. Thank you, and sorry for the vast request of information. I just know nothing about these cars (previous car was boosted Tiburon)
I have the Eibach Pro-kit, but it's essentially the same thing. The drop looks real good, but the ride is a bit stiff. Coilovers would get the same look with a better ride, but thats why they cost 800+. And my stock struts are NOT blown, even after three plus years of using the springs.
Ya know I was talking to WhiteFWDSM lastnight on this same topic we both agree the Pro-Kit is the way to go and worth the money. You will not have the problems that you see with Goldlines with these. The ride is stiffer than most but the stance is nice and the functionality is second only to coilovers. I know I will be ordering my pro-kit in the very near future.
Eibach makes great stuff! Just an FYI we carry bothe teh Pro Kit and Sportlines for you guys! http://www.bmcspeedshop.com/product_p/eib-2820-140.htm http://www.bmcspeedshop.com/product_p/eib-4-2028.htm
Socks maybe we can tag team the neons when you get your springs. I know in alot of cases the on these neons that they settle in and the drop appears more than what you ordered. I know that was the case with at least 3 Local SRT guys.
I love the look of my drop. When I first put them on, it didn't look any different. It took a couple weeks to settle, and now looks good, IMHO.....
hmmmm.. i really wish i knew the spring rates for the prokit vs. the spring rates of the sportlines. if this info is right: prokit: 1.6 F 1.8 R sportline: 2.0F 2.4R i would rather get the sportlines if the spring rates are similar. if the sportlines are much stiffer, i would go with the prokit. if they settle more than what the drop states, prokit for sure.. with my DIY lip, itll drop the front profile ~1.75" and if i got the sportlines and it settled to like 2.5" in front i would only have ~3" of clearance which would not be good. thanks for the pics master_1011
the one blown strut (right front) i has happened at 82k and thats after all the round de rounds, sliding, 4 jumps, and offroading ive done.:viking: the goldline spring are pretty good IMO, Stiff, with a smoother ride than the teins, and the stock struts can take a pretty good beating.:viking: and kym you shouldn't worry bout blowing a strut unless you drive harder then me :hmm:
