OK. Here's some background: 1. My car is at Vortech in Oxnard; 3 hours from my house. 2. 5150SRT8 (Maarten) sold me his wheels/tires (chromed oem Charger SRT8 & 275/40/20 Vredesteins) for a great price. 3. Vortech is going to accept and install the wheels/tires for me while car is up there (Maarten is dropping them off there). 4. I am likely selling my stock wheels and need to ship them to Michigan and the rubber on them is worthless. So... here's the logistical nightmare: A. Should I have Vortech load my stock wheels into my car (with tires still on - will they fit?) and ship them from San Diego to Michigan after removing the tires? B. Should I try shipping the wheels and tires from Oxnard? The catch being the tires would still be on the wheels... The weight of the tires will jack-up the shipping costs... C. I need suggestions as to the best resolution!!!
Actually I just shipped a set of wheels and tires here. The weight of the rubber and air is about 25% of the cost. They run about 66 pounds with rubber and a lot less without. Like I told you I had a hell of a time with 4 tires off the rims in my car with the back seat down. 2 dont fit in the truck without dropping the seat. I suggest either having who ever takes you up to get the car bring 1 or 2 back or ask drew or me to bring back 1 or 2...I already told you I would but I guess your in a hurry
ummm, have you ever looked at your wheels and tires off the car? 4 WHEELS WITH TIRES WILL NOT FIT IN YOUR CAR. ok, maybe if you trashed the interior you might get 1 - in the trunk 2 - in rear seating area (doubtful) 1 - in front passenger seat You MIGHT have room to get into the drivers seat, close the door and actually get the car in gear. If you managed not to crash before a cop saw you driving that way, you would be arrested. Make arrangements to ship directly from Oxnard. If possible make arrangements to have the tires dismounted before shipping. Do not walk into Postal Annex and expect them to be able to package 4 wheels for shipping. At the very least, make arrangements to have the tires dismounted before attempting to get the wheels home in the car. See above.
OK Noid to the rescue again... Have Vortech do the swap for you... I will go by there and pick up your OE wheels and take them to a shop and have them remove the tires and TPMS ... whatever they are... the valve stems and then take them back to Vortech and have them placed in your car with a clearwrap on them... Just let me know... I would ship them from my place but the owner doesn't like personal shipping... sorry about that... I can't make it that easy on you...
Right on Albert! I think you might actually get an invite to the super secret BBQs I have at my place from now on.
ALBERT, To the rescue again! You know Jason was just waiting for you to post and do exactly what your big, warm, cushy, roughly unshaving self would do. That is why MOMO is going to love you long time................
Can I get an invite to these! Do you mind if I bring my uncle, aunt, cousin(S), kids, brother, mom, dad and whoever else will fit in my trunk?????????lease:
No hurry bro, my customers know the deal... I just don't like putting people out... I forgot that Drew would be done before us... Albert... if I were gay... Wow. What can I say? Seriously. I hate to have you go through all that... but if you're willing, I mean, how can I turn it down?!?! "We" owe you (Ryan and I). I will let you know when Maarten takes the new wheels up there.... I wonder if the sensors should be left on the wheels? Also: Cost to have them dismounted/discarded? I'd have to send a check or something... Albert deserves a BBQ and a happy ending, courtesy of Ryan's hoe-cousin in TJ... his pick, there's at least 50 to choose from!
No problem... this will happen on a lunch break for me... As for the sensors... I would keep them for your next set of wheels or you can buy new ones for about 160 bucks or so.... or will your new wheels already have the sensors??? If not you will have a light on the dash and a ding sound every now and then...
Momo, the sensors should have been mentioned in the deals. Just so someone doesn't assume. It just occurred to me... If you throw those wheels with sensors on them in the car it's possible the sensors in the wheel well might pick those up instead. Now you'll know if you get screwy pressure readings or CEL on the EVIC.
Momo, Sui never got back to me or you so I doubt he wants the two wheels but maybe he is just busy...he has posted however w/o respondeing to my PMs. Also, the company I was going to ship my wheels to HAS a full setup already widened and finished...I just never asked. If I can swing that I will get the whole set from them. Long story short...you won't need to ship any wheels, for me anyway. Good deal though...they should sell quickly. I'll see what I can do to help out... Thanks again Momo and sorry I can't take two off your hands.
You'll pay dearly for this!!! :friends: LMAO!!! No sweat. Just get someone to buy them for me, then I'll tell Rick to cancel his flight and return his ninja suit, the knuce and 2 foot rubber fist. LMAO!!!
The sensors are NOT vehicle specific. If you get false or weird readings, inflate tires to 45 psi and then back them down or drive about 50 miles and the sensors will read correctly.
You got it bruthafrumanuthamutha. I will do what I can to get yours sold Lol...no rubber fists dude...those cannot be good.
No, No. I was talking about when he has 4 wheels with sensors IN his car to bring them back home. I'm thinking with speed bumps and aggressive super charged driving the motion sensors should activate the rims in the trunk/back seat/passenger seat. Any one of those sensors could get picked up by the wheel well sensors. And remember one corner doesn't have a location sensor so the PCM isn't going to know which signal to use for that one... Momo! think about this. Get a large piece of plate glass. Maybe a long oval. Lay 2 wheels flat, outside up. Lay plate glass on top of wheels. ULTIMATE SRT8 coffee table!
