Gas prices are starting to make a bit of difference in my driving habits these days.

I don't completely stay out of the gas all the time, but I'm laying off a whole lot from when gas was $2.50 (remember when that was expensive?)

I might as well flog the beast (what the kids are calling it these days) if that's all the gain I'm going to get. I'm running about a consistent 15.4 - 15.9 mpg.

Heh, that's at least 1.5 to 2 mpg better (not 1 mpg). You must have been driving like an old lady before

Exactly why I don't have a Jeep. I can always borrow my bro-in-law's when I have the need for AWD launches.

haha On the Highway, if I cruise at 75mph I average around 16.1 mpg. If I cruise at 85mph or faster, I get 19.9mpg... lmao WTF?

At 75-80 I get around 20/21 MPG on my trip computer. Even around town and highway it drops to around 15.5. Bill

Yea, I think the best I ever saw (around town) was 14 and I was really pedaling it. On the hwy though I get 20-22. Actually, our cars get pretty close to what the sticker says, surprisingly. Got an Odyssey that's rated 20/28. YEA RIGHT!! Can't get above 15 in town and gets only 24 on the hwy. Stinkin liars!!!!!!

The only way to get decent milage on an SRT8 is to park it in the driveway!!!!!

Funny part about that is with the new EPA rules, our cars actually max out at 19mpg. I have never heard of anyone getting less than 19 at even a 75 mph clip.

I get 16-17mpg typically, but if you lug the engine by going light throttle every time you take off, you're actually getting worse gas mileage than if you just go WOT up to cruising speed... honestly... it's been tested and proven. An engine at WOT is more efficient than at part throttle.

I get 22-23mpg cruising at 70-80mph on the freeway. When I want to get 25mpg+ I switch SRTs... ;)

Yea, some manufactures were pretty close on their numbers if I remember correctly but others (like Honda :furious:) were way off. I'm happy with mine, getting over 20 on the hwy with a 425 horse, 372 cubed high performance Hemi cruising at 75-80 with the a/c running is aces in my book!! :thumb3:

The magic number on these motors seems to be 2000 rpm's. You stay under 2k and you do prety good. On the way to the track last week I had a carload of spare parts (brake pads, rotors, two floor jacks, gas cans, lawn chair, my own fat ass blah blah blah. Got 24 mpg with that full load, keeping rpms at 2000 constant (about 67 mph). but it was over mostly flat ground.

Driving in town or in the hills... Like 6point1 said you may as well enjoy it.
