We have a place for you guys to race this year the NATIONAL MUSCLE CAR ASSOCIATION and KOOKS HEADERS have teamed up to have a late model shoot out at Atco Raceway on JUNE 6-8 2008 check out the link below for the rules. http://www.nmcadigital.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9005
It's going to be an awsome event not only will we have a shootout for the late model hemi guys we are having one for the Ford Modular and the GM LS powered vehicles to. On top of that we will be having are regular National event program with heads up drag racing along with a huge manufactures midway, swap meet, car show and jet cars. Needless to say there will be alot to do.
What can you tell me about rollcage/rollbar rules? The rules say NHRA/IHRA, but there's some differences in what those two bodies will allow in terms of rollcages. Are full interiors required? Can you break out?
NHRA/IHRA require a roll bar at 11.49 et. A roll bar only needs to protect the driver and requires 5 tubes. Also you can have a removable drivers side bar. (bet you didn't know that) You do need to have a 5 point harness if you have a bar. Full interiors are not required by NHRA/IHRA. (certin classes may)Proper venting is required for Nitrous bottles in the same compartment as the driver. I have a 08 NHRA rule book if you need me to check anything
Yup, I know all of those NHRA rules, as I too am an NHRA member and have the rule book on my desk. ALthough a swing out driver's sidebar is allowed, many chassis builders won't build it that way regardless. IHRA allows rollbars with removable downtubes, whereas NHRA requires them to be welded to the main hoop. One memeber here has successfully had a removable rollbar for the LX platform certified by the IHRA, but he can't get NHRA certification. So bottom line: IHRA rules: A plausibly removable rollbar will do. NHRA rules: Welded together in a manner that makes it permanent is required.
Great look forward to meeting you and other hemi guys. Spread the word this event is going to be awsome.
