Wait until you hear 'the rest of the story' (ala: Paul Harvey) from this weekend. It'll prove my point.

    1. John, Adam, Ralph. Thanks a ton for helping me out.
    2. Its not their fault the car is low. It was my decision. HOWEVER, look at the ride height... there are PLENTY of folks who are lower and hadn't had this happen to them (Ryan, for example).
    3. Its my lack of luck.

Now, the rest of the story:

I got desperate and after reading Dave's fix it post, got my jack and stands out. Neighbor popped over to help. Get the car up, loosen the clamps... there's NO way in HELL we could've pulled or pushed harder to move those catbacks. The rubber hangers were TIGHT and if we'd taken them off, they'd never have gone back on.... so, I called around for a shop on Sunday.

Pepboys said bring it down. Given that this is a rather simple task for nearly anyone, I hopped in my 3000 decibel charger and went to Pepboys. Long story short: they said they couldn't fix it, that it needed a specialty shop. So, I drive BACK home at 3000 decibels. Car rested the rest of the day. I did however go WOT with basically just pipes. WOW! Talk about LOUD!

So, the wife and I decide to go to the new mall and we walk into Apple. I haven't had a personal cell phone in about 7 years, my neighbor just got an iPhone (basically a mini-laptop) and we purchase a 8 gig one. Thing is AWESOME! I can use it for work (maps/internet) on the road and also entertainment for when sitting in the car for work for hours on end (games, movies, music, etc.).

So, everything is working out ok this weekend. Car is fucked, but this iPhone is addicting and I'm having fun with it.

    Well....

Fun until the FUCKING THING BROKE ON ME! Yep. Won't turn on now, and its charged fully. Little button on top is broke (loose inside the cavity of the phone itself). So, yeah, car fucked now the new phone is fucked as well.

Remember my earlier post? About how things go great for me, then they go to shit just as fast? Thought I was lying, didn't you?!?!

I need a vacation from my life.

Ralph, because of the shearing-off of my exhaust, it gave me an idea. After going WOT with the car like that, and sitting at lights rumbling like a top-fuel dragster, I got to thinking:

"How can I make the car a bit louder without sounding ridiculous?"

The resonators/mufflers on my Zoomers are pretty thick (about the diameter of a 2 liter plastic bottle of soda)... I'm assumming that's sound deadening material... I think they're aftermarket resonators (bought my catbacks used from Maarten - 5150SRT8).

What if... what if I had a Cherrybomb glasspack put in place of one (or both) of the resonators?!?! The Cherrybomb glasspacks appear to be quite smaller in diameter than the things I have on my Zoomers...

Jason...brother, I leave out of town for a few weeks and all hell breaks loose! Fuck, I'm sorry this is happening to you. You could call Jeff. For about ten bucks you can throw it up on a lift at the Navy Auto Hobby Shop and take the entire system down and realign. Jeff and I did it to my car and it is really easy. I wish you knew how to take a fucking picture and adjust the size in Photoshop or any other simple editing program....or just adjust the setting on your camera to a smaller size. You can do it with the free time you have now that your I phone is broken. Sorry buddy. On a lighter note, Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket are really cool....especially Phuket!

You don't have to adjust pic sizes. Just use photobucket. It will automatically resize them for you when you upload. You just go to user options somewhere and select the size for 15" displays. You can even specify each time you upload but you (Jason) should go to the options and set the default size. I think it's something like (600x800) 15". Can't miss it.

So you looked at it. Pepboys looked at it and advised you. AND YOU COULDN"T MANAGE TO TELL US WTF IS BENT?! Is it the hanger rods? what? Why did they say specialty shop?

Oh, yea... which did you have longer before you broke it? Lowered car or iPhone?

I can see we're going to have to get you a padded room and one of those safety helmets... BTW, Rick, get Momo some Nike shirts while you're there... they should still be about 10 for a dollar!

Um jason those big 2 liter looking things I *think* are your mufflers...they have the little fan thingy in them to give the zoomers that fluttering sound you all like so much.

Oh God Jason, I'm so sorry but ... I'm laughing my ass off!! Bro, you seriously have bad luck! You broke both your car and your phone in the same weekend, lol!! (sorry to laugh but I need it right now).

Ok, so first ... those pix of your car in the first post LOOK AWESOME!! Bro, you're ride is sooooooooooooo sweet, I LOVE the clean look! And the chrome rims, oh man, if I didn't hate the upkeep on chrome I'd do that in a heartbeat!! Does that make you feel better, I'm lovin your sled!!!!!!

2nd, yea, driving a lowered car is hell, LOTS of give and take ... mostly give. You gotta learn there's just certain places you can't go, it's that simple. I've had pleny of years practice with my Mustang being on the ground yet, well, it still hasn't stopped me from scraping the hell out of my chin on the Maggie. Doh.

Couple things. Dave's right, try more like a 20* angle for bumps and ramps and such, you want one wheel up at a time. Also, if you're stuck but HAVE to move (like over a speed bump) get OUT and lift up on the car. I had to do that for one of those stupid cement parking blocks (yea, I know, I shouldn't have pulled in head first, stupid me) or I would have ripped off my front facia. I cleared the block fine but not the rebar, it sticks up 1/2" to 3/4" ABOVE the block usually and you can get caught on it.

Yea, driving a lowered car is a matter of compromise. Looks awesome, handles even better but there's just certain things you can't do anymore. Oh, and I usually plan out ahead of time where I'm going and decide if I'm gonna be able to make it or not. If not, I take my beater. Compromise.

BTW DAVE, I got the "Vacation" quote, LOVE that movie. "We're all gonna be whistling Zipededoda out our assholes!"

Hahaha, I'm STILL laughing at that image of that thing going airborne when he fell asleep and ran off the road (maybe I screwed up my meds in my daily pill minder). It just came to mind when I thought of Momo launching over a speed bump.

I feel badly for him too.

Probably should lighten up on him a bit. Jason has been noticeably absent from the thread... might be all butt hurt or still in serious shock from the incident.

    Jason,

Sorry about your pain and stress! It sucks to do a mod and things go to shit or not the way you hoped. It is all a learning experience for all of us. I finally raised the back of the car and am happier with it, but still need to let it settle and then I will determine if I'm going to leave it the way it sits.

We learn with our wives, kids, work, life and our beloved cars. If it all went the way we wanted life would be boring........................Now stop being a "SNIVELING BYTCH" and fix it:baby:

Ok, instead of multiquoting my ass off for an hour... kiss my ass you losers! LMAO!

Enough was enough. John recommended that I take my car to:

    Ed Hanson's Muffler Svc
    (619) 698-7030
    3916 N Barcelona St
    Spring Valley, CA

And boy oh boy, was that THE referral of the century! Those folks were simply AWESOME.

Friendly, funny and interested in the car and VORTECH blower! They loved it! I had a great time there, actually. I'd go back just to visit! Family owned business since way back when.

Sunny is the receptionist and resident ball buster. I called in there to make an appointment, and she told me to come down late this afternoon... I told her what happened, etc.

I get there, introduce myself, and she said: "Oh, you're the guy who went off roading in a Charger SRT8! You know they're not built for that, don't you?!?!".

I was beside myself with laughter.

Then she called in the shop guys, who were also VERY cool folks. They had me go into the 'pit' under the car to show them what was up, what I thought was wrong, what happened, what they thought could be done, etc. etc. etc.

Long story shorter than it could be: they fixed my car in under 15 minutes, I was there for about 40 minutes if you include the bullshitting we did... they even corrected a bad weld near the resonators (not the big mufflers - my bad John)... and moved and adjusted the clamps so that shit don't happen again... tack welded it all together REAL nice too!!!

Sunny yells down into the 'pit' "how much we charging for this? what you do down there?"

One guy yells back "its usually $625"...

I walked outta there for $25.00 no tax (labor only). Oh, and they realigned the tips just because they 'weren't quite right'.

Now she purrs like a pissed off lion without rattling my teeth.

What more can be said? A great price, UNREAL customer service and they were friendly and genuine folks to boot! I can't recommend them enough for anyone in the area. Once again:

    Ed Hanson's Muffler Svc
    (619) 698-7030
    3916 N Barcelona St
    Spring Valley, CA

They'll do minor as well as full custom work. Top notch business... not flashy, just great work.

*I also got my iPhone replaced! WOOHOO!!!
**Did all of this after taking my kid for a Dr. appt! Ran my ass off, but it was a 'good' day, even had IHOP for lunch!
