This has me COMPLETELY baffled!!! For a couple of months now, my truck has been running hotter than normal. Last year it never went over 200. Now it will run 215 and keep going. I do have a Jet 180* and modded fan settings too. I figured it out today to be my freaking AC! On the way to the stereo shop, it was running 215* on the highway. Not normal. I'm having battery issues too. So, I shut off the AC and put the windows down. Sure enough my damn temps went down to their normal 190* and stayed there. WTF?!?! I know running the AC can make a engine run a little hotter but good Lord man! As it sat outside the stereo shop, the temps stayed right on the right mark. I was shocked. It idled for about 15-20 minutes. If the AC was on, it would have been hot as balls after 5 minutes. So I left the shop and headed home. I cut the AC on and sure enough, it climbed back up. Shut it off, and it went back down. I'm electrically cursed! Anyone got any ideas on this one?
When running and using the AC it adds heat due to the condenser being in front of coolant radiator, sounds like maybe your high fan speed is either not working or working intermittently.
You need to ensure that your fan settings for A/C are properly programmed. Go here to make sure they are set. http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7403
We put a new fan in it about 3 months ago. It was causing the fuse block under the hood to melt along with the relay. I replaced the relay first for giggles and it melted in 1 day again. New fan and fuse block and relay and they've all been fine since. Those are my setting. Well, a touch lower actually, except for the MS. I don't konw about the LX's but the Jeeps don't have a MS. I've heard that changing them can cause issues. Jeeps only use LS and HS. I've had this same setup and fan settings since March of 08. Last summer it never ran over 195*. This must be a product of Global Warming.:hypno: I'm really starting to wonder if it's my UDP. That was added about 4 months ago when it was still cool out. Hmmmmm......
