Surprisingly, Kelley Blue Book adds only $150 to the value of my '06 reg cab SRT-10 for being a Night Runner. I thought the exclusivity would bring more than that. I do not really want to sell the NR with its 0% loan until my '04 SRT-10 is sold and maybe not then but it is interesting to see what they value these trucks at. According to KBB, my '04 was supposedly worth almost 30 in trade a year ago, then gas soared and values of trucks plummeted. Mine dropped under 20, then went above 21 and is now 22,475. The recent trend is as good as that of gasoline and obviously directly related inversely. If I could actually get a dealer to give that much I could order a new toy............ I have traded in three newish trucks fairly recently and could get no dealer to give anywhere near what the KBB trade-in value is listed as. It is obvious I should sell myself without trading to a dealer and I did try, with no results or reasonable offers. Has anyone had any decent luck by showing KBB numbers to dealers? Comments? Experiences?
Unfortunately dealers will only give you wholesale for your trade in vehicle. And with the loan crisis, it is only going to get worse. As for KBB, they do not distinguish between specialty options such as the Night Runner Truck. They go off of the base model and then tack on extremely small amounts for the options that make up a higher class vehicle. Good luck on the sale.
I know my dealer has his little secret trade in book that i got to see....and they are gonna give you what that little book says...not what KBB or any other service says.... if im not mistaken its a book given to them by Dodge that says what dodge values the car at which is really what matters..... so if they dont want the car (whatever car it maybe) they might lowball you...which is what they are doing to all trucks now cause they cant give them away best bet is to sell it....and hope you get an offer that you can take.... good luck buddy! :thumb:
KBB is fantasyland and should be viewed as just another opinion, not reality. I just sold my 89 Acura Legend for $3k and KBB said it's value was $1500, yea right. A better indicator of a car's worth is checking what similar vehicles are selling for, see what the market is. And dealers will ALWAYS lowball, apparently they have their own "black book" for car values that's even lower than the lowest KBB prices. Whatever.
I don't put much faith in KBB values...I think of them more as guidlines. Problem with the truck market right now is it is getting killed by gas prices. I see brand new trunks around here TRYING to be sold at 50% off the sticker price. You think if dealers are having issues selling new trucks at 1/2 price they are going to be able to give you a good deal on trade for a used one. You're best bet will be selling it yourself, but even then it may be difficult to get what the truck is worth.
1Bad, KBB DOES distinguish for NRs. I mentioned that. It is one of the options you can check off for them to give a price. ..and what loan crisis? You are listening to the media too much. My wife and I are overextended but got TWO new car loans no problem in the last three months and the 2nd was at 4.75%. Someone mentioned wholesale and seemed to not understand that KBB gives three price choices. The dealer trade-in IS the lowest and likened to wholesale but getting it does seem like a fairytale....... So who wants a two-fer deal on SRT-10s????
Two-fer offer includes four unused black SRT-10 22" wheels and two unused 325/40 x 22 tires. '04 reg cab has 14,300 miles and factory warranty expires June, 2009. '06 reg cab Night Runner has about 6000 miles and factory warranty expires December, 2009. Neither has any damage. Both for $48,000? C'mon somebody ............ I want that CTS-V !!!!!!
Yea, I saw your comment, but at $150 added on is hardly recognising it. As for me listening to the Media. bwahahahahahaha You don't know me very well then cause I can NOT stand the media. I am LIVING the loan crisis at this very moment. And yea, it doesn't end with the Banks (mortgage companies and brokers alike), as it is effecting Construction and Retail among others....
IMO KBB is there to help dealers make $. Though they give me the same as my dealer just offered on a trade towards a Chally SRT8.
there is a srt10 (qc) night runner at a local dealership.06 with 3,000 miles and they are asking $33,000 for it.
No thnx. I am trying to sell, not buy another........... I understand you provided that as a pricing guide. Thnx, but I am well aware of what the asking prices are. What it actually sells for is more important. Meanwhile, I keep enjoying my '04 and it is a great all-around vehicle for this old fart.
I HATE THE NORTH EAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'd buy the NR if i could :sorry:...stupid snow needing to have 4 wheel drive
I know that my dealer checks the national auto auctions...mainly Manheim...to determine trades....as far as KBB they are just for reference...surprised they even mention the NR...
Sold the '04. Now ........... anyone want a NR with low miles and new unmounted extra wheels (black) and two unmounted and new 325/40 Toyo's, too?
My friend was toying with the idea of trading in his 2006 SRT-10 EC (10k miles) on a Chally SRT-8 until they hit him with a 18K trade in value!! Yikes!!
Yup! Kelley Blue Book is totally meaningless. I got very little in trade on my '04 SRT-10 but the dealer gave me such a steal of a price on a new car for a daughter that the whole deal turned out well all total. I will just drive my '06 RC Night Runner SRT-10 until someone makes a fair offer and that is not a bad gameplan. I will mount the black rims with 305/45s on front and 325/40s on rear and may opt for the extended chrome lug nuts to spin around against the black background. That way I can leave stock tires on the stock rims and they will still have some tread for the next owner. [email protected]
