I was wondering if there is anyone on hear that has experienced or known anyone that has used the JET chip from JET performance. From what i have read, its a simple module that you plug into your OBD II port with more aggresive fuel and timing maps. of course it wouldn't be tunable from what they have it set at, but it seems like a decent option for plug 'n' play power i have found them online for around 200-250$ which is a decent price for a good power increase with light mods. they have a stage 1 and stage 2 chip. one it for stock to mild modded, stage two is for people who have a little more mods. I read one thread on the srt4 forums about it sucking, but didn't seem like any REAL information on it, besides what seemed to be 'blind' bashing.
stay as far away as you can! you will see no performance gains whatsoever and then you wont even be able to give the thing away. at least thats my experience with the one i got for my 8 (i was a sucker)
thanks for the quick response. i will be looking elsewhere for some cheaper tunability of my car. i was looking into the SCT, but 600$ is a bit pricey for the mods i have in my car and where i want to take the car. Diablo may never make a tuning system for the srt4, or that would be a great option. I hate SAFCs. and standalone would be WAY overkill.
Yea, the Jet Chip is a POS for the SRT8's. Do yourself a favor and get an actuall programmer. Diablo is working on one I think and SCT already has one for the Skittle. Will be money well saved and spent.
no problem bro! i would hate to see somebody go out and get one of those things without being informed (like i did). its like a magic diet pill. too good to be true!
SCT on stockers or close to stockers does wonders from what I have heard and seen. I haven't heard much from the big turbo crowd, most likely because they have gone Piggyback or SAFC by now and are happy with their existing tunes. Jet is ebay garbage. It always has and always been. It's like putting faith in a hypertech. Now if you want a plug and play type setup spend some money and get an S1 ECU. I know you want to keep the car fairly close to stock and S1 would be the way to go. If you are planning on dumping more money get a full S2 kit, you will get injector, sensors, ecu and wga.
Now that SCT has tuning out I would highly suggest spending the extra bucks and getting a custom tune.
how much would a S1 ECU really do for me though? a few hp? 10-15? how much better are the fuel/timing maps on a S1 ECU. that might be the direction i go with if it seems like itll be better than a OBDII tuner like SCT or diablo. seems like diablo may be months before anything happens.. before i made my thread people said could be 3-6 months before they have anything, and when i made my thread, they didn't really have much to say about when it would be available. i want to put a MAX of about 800-1000$ into the cars performance including a tuner of some sort. i already have the injen catback, AFE intake, MSD coil and wires. i was thinking about some silicone charge pipes and a WGA for the finishing touches, but still need to research a good, bolt on (no issues) WGA. then, i would get a tuner and get the most power i could, with a conservative tune, out of that set up. from mopars site, the stage II isnt that impressive with a normal gas rating of: 265whp/280ft. lbs. for 1600$, and that would be with turbo toys. if i can find somewhere to get an SCT tuner for ~500$ i will probably do it, and tune it myself or just load preloaded maps.
like others have said...... stay away from the JET!!!!!! the only jet you may be interested in is the kind that flys in the air.....
Definately stay away from Jet chips... they are garbage like everyone so far has stated. Why do you hate SAFC's? I don't like the DTEC at all, just because of their failure rating and the problems they give. The quality of the product too sucks, like one thing being the wires. Yes the tuning points and what not are awesome. But the replacement buffer board that TurboXS has to send you to see if the problem gets fixed is a headache. Not worth the trouble. There isn't much available tuning wise as far as a subtle tune with not hurting the pocket. There's options like SCT (which you stated to be a bit too much), SAFC II or Neo, DTEC, Greddy Emanage, MapClamp (which I recommend to stay away from).
I have the chip and throttle body spacer in my glove box. And marcus is right I can't even give it away
how is the emanage on the srt4, haven't done too much searching on it. i had the emanage with e-01 in my tib, but i also had a second fuel rail to control my 'boost' fuel cuz our ECUs HATED any piggyback. if the emanage is friendly with the SRT i would probably go for that and a profec e-01 setup for sure. i LOVED the in car tuning in my tib.
Dont listen to theses guys...the Jet Chip is great....they are just jealous because they spent a fortune on tuners....I have 2 of em....they are great for keeping papers from blowing off my desk....:laser:
well I have to say this about the Mopar kits. I had S1 and for what it was I was happy with it. I had a CAI,S1, 180 deg t-stat, DC Sports cat back and a AGP WGA and was able to run 13.18 @ 104 on a 235/60/15 cheater slick. the driveability was nice, but the pop's through the exhaust was a little annoying. I now have S2 with the same as above but added a PSI-FI fmic, 3" 02 housing and a 3" MPX catted dp and a map clamp. I have gone 12.61 @ 117 on a drag radial with this setup. I love it and it does run good, but as always I would like more. So now I am looking into a SAFC myself. I was thinking of the neo, but not sure yet. anyone have any opinions? I am also planning on adding a return line and possibly a ported turbo. I am trying to learn about all the safc and d-tec 's so any help would much appreciated. sorry if I am hijacking, but trying to learn myself, and I thought this would benefit all.
An S1 with a turbo back exhaust (or o2 housing back if you dont wanna mess with that) and an AGP wga will do wonders. I don't have a dyno yet with the agp wga but with a s2 wga, s1 ecu, o2 back exhaust I put down 278/311. Every wga (aside from the stocker) on a s0/s1 car will take away from driveability, PTB, huge spikes till the comp learns etc. Now I seemed to have found a happy medium I only lost a faction of the driveability using the bleeder mod. If I get a chance I will do a quick write up.
