It really depends where you run a lot of the time. A few track organizations don't care if you're sporting a cheapo bike helmet that was manufactured around the same time the wheel was invented.

Then you could turn up at the track one day when you're really jonesing to run...and have your helmet rejected. Bummer!

Thing is, it's your frigg'n life we're talking about here. Get the latest models that are designed specifically for racing cars. The material in helmets apparently breaks down over time. (Well that's what the manufacturers will tell you. :prop:).

Any snell 2000 or 2005 rated helmet is the best rating out and if they are cheap why not. The rating isn't what makes them expensive its the looks and brand, All of the snell 2000 and 2005 rated helmets meet the same requirements regardless of price.

Last week was the second time I've ever taken one of my SRTs to the track in the last year. I however, do plan on going a little more often going forward.

NHRA tracks require the Snell approved helmet

DA of 1500' ? Wow. We'd kill for that up here in Albuquerque.
The last night race we had at the Albuquerque National Dragway, we had a DA of around 7,500 or so. It was lame.

The day time racing hasn't had much better either. Everything is 1.5 seconds slower or so up here.

What are you going to do in the future with your ride to keep those times falling?

I'd kill for some of that ATCO or Englishtown -1500 DA. Remind me to never accept an invite to race in Albqueque:shok:. That makes California Speedway look good. The track is at 1200' above sea level BEFORE you add the weather factor. Irwindale is 300 above......you need to come out here!

I'm following Hal and Ron and going with a GSM 426......definetly nitrous and possibly a combo of blower/nitrous.

Eric was also running the Predator 91 Canned tune that night as well as a 180 stat I believe. The only real difference besides gas level or weight in the rig was the CAI lol. Time to hop on that soapbox Steve lol.
