Installation is fairly simple and takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour to complete. Tools needed: Wire Cutters/Strippers/Crimpers, 10mm Open End Wrench, Drill, Soldering gun, and Crosstip and Flat Screwdrivers. Other items needed. Electrical Tape, Wire Lume, Male and female connectors (12 gauge), roll of 12 gauge wire, roll of 3/16" or 1/8" vacuum hose, and a T or Y vacuum adapter. Start by pulling up the rear seat (You DO NOT need to remove the backrest of the rear seat). The bottom portion of the rear seat has TWO retainers keeping it in place. The are both located at the corner of each side (See Figure 1 and 2). With a SOME pressure, lift up on one corner of seat bottom until it comes out of it's socket (careful NOT to hit self in face). Fig 1 Fig 2 Lift Here Next, pull out insert from spare tire well. This is where the Boost A Pump shall be placed (desirable as it is out of the way and closet points to the Battery and Fuse box. It is also the shortest run for the wiring). I mounted the MSD 2" down from the top of the wheel well. Power wire will be connected to the Power side of the fuse box where the Power lead from the Battery goes. The ground wire will be connected to the Battery's ground wire lead to the body. Wiring to the Fuel Pump: Note: The common and ground wires for the Fuel pump are as followed.. Blue/Red wire is Common (positive) and Brown/red wire is the ground. You will be splicing into these two wires only. I will not give the pin outs for the wiring relay as it MAY or may not be the same realy as I have. You will NEED to read the MSD wiring instructions for the wiring the relay. All wires coming from the Fuel pump going to the MSD unit can be fished under the trunk carpeting. Us a coat hanger for ease of pulling wire. The vacuum line will need to be run from trunk to under the dash where the Piggyback ECU is located (may defer from install to install). Find the vacuum line coming from the piggyback ECU and cut. Install the "T" or "Y" adapter to the cut vacuum line. Next, install the MSD vacuum line.
lol Yup... Had to give the warning Quick.. fricken thing busted out, hit me in the face. OUCH. haha :guns::guns::clapping::dunno2:
Well, your fuel pump only delivers so much fuel. Put some more juice to the fuel pump and it runs faster (kind of like spraying nitrous) and pumps fuel faster. More power, you burn more fuel and those guys with the big motors are burning it faster than the pump can keep up. When you adjust your A/F the injectors stay open longer. After you run out of adjustment you put in bigger injectors and shortly after that you probably have to go with a bigger fuel pump altogether. Or two of them? That's my guess anyway. (It has nothing to do with fueling that Mother Mopar Performance rocket assist you have mounted between your wheelie bars).
Correct. Also, this particular pump runs off of boost from the Super Charger as well. This way the amount of fuel is not over bearing to the engine...
Very nice job. Thank you! Any comment on how this unit compares with the Kenne Bell Boost-a-pump? What exact model # MSD is this? Street price?
