My best times are from 12.77-12.95 in good weather (65-70*) with the 60' times I posted.

I have Diablo w/ CMR tune by SVS, Zoomers catback, Magnaflow hi-flo cats/midpipes, Airaid intake, Coolit fan mod and 170* thermostat.

Sweet!! So that leads to one question I have ... do you have a stupid drive shaft safety loop? Track requires it for 12.99 and under right? Damn I hate those things, was ALWAYS a problem on my Mustang and the track INSISTED I had one, prolly why I never went back cause I ripped the thing off and refused to put it back on.

The drive shaft safety loop issue has never come up. I've told them what I run during the tech inspection and they never mentioned the safety loop.

Well that's good to know, maybe their not so strict on that anymore considering so many cars can run in the 12s stock. Boy was it a hassle before tho. I'll prolly be in the 13s anyway so it won't matter.

That would be awesome Steve!! It would be cool to finally meet too!! I'm gonna run until the bracket crap starts (5pm, maybe later??) and then run prolly just once, maybe, BIG maybe, twice. Then I'll head out. So maybe 7 or so. Don't want to go too early either cause all I'll do is sit in traffic anyway. It's also fun to hang around and watch. What time you think you'd be there???

Yeesh... we're planning on being there when it opens at 3:30 pm. Then I figure we'll spend maybe a half hour in the store trying on helmets (Scott was dropped on his head as a baby so he's hard to fit). Then there's supposed to be open runs and then the bracket racing. Since I guess the bracket racing is elimination Scott will be leaving after his first run. I'm liable to be there till they close. If you come, bring your low res camera. My car got all spotted with the friggin 1 minute spattering of rain yesterday evening.

Oh, you meant what time are we GETTING there, sorry. Uh, like by 3 prolly, but we're on the peninsula heading up 280 thru SF and over the bridge, not around up thru the East Bay, sorry. Just come out and watch, you don't have to run, besides, it only costs $25 to run anyway. Just come and watch and take pix!!!!!!!

lol, im not worried about the racing fee. im worried about what comes after you run a time you arent happy with....

last time i did that, i dropped about 20k on an 02 camaro. im just finished paying off that debt.

you guys are going too early though, i would get my ass in a sling if i took off 4 hours into my day. haha

We went! We raced! I accomplished all my goals! Well, sort of... I didn't win the bracket racing and I didn't beat Scott even though my car is faster than his.

Nice drive up there. We get there early about 2:30 and there's a line at the gate. They let us in at about 3:00 and we line up again in the paddoc area. Guy told us we would be sitting there for close to an hour so Scott and I head for the store to get our helmets.

Walk in there and tell them I called Monday to have them hold a couple for me to try on. Everybody knew about it and they're sitting on the back counter. These things are a work of art (HJC Si-12)! You can hear trumpet music when you take it out of the box. Comes with cloth liner to put the helmet in before you put it in the semi hard case form fitting helmet bag that has accessory pockets and stretch strap suspension to keep the helmet from knocking around in it. I might take pics of it if the wife leaves tomorrow. Scott picks up some disposable piece of plastic.

We hear cars going by... The wait was only about 20 minutes. We lose about 50 spots and get in line for tech. There's a silver Challenger parked up by tech! Owner is 8yourM5's tech guy. He traded his Magnum in on the Challenger. He raced it and ran about the same times we did. It was stock except for a Zoomers cat back.

We got 4 runs in before the bracket racing and then 1 bracket run (doh). I did all my runs driving around the water and no burnout (not even a little burnout). It's HOT. Over 80* with at least a 30 mph head wind. Scott and I have almost full tanks of gas and I'm carrying about as many tools in the back as Hemi31 carries in his trailer.

I'm lined up next to Scott for my first drag race at a real live official drag strip. First launch I tried brake stalling, which I usually don't do cause it seems to bog right when you release the brake and roll into the throttle. It did. ...and I was late. So Scott, with 20+ years experience got the hole shot on me and managed to barely eak out the win. I was way faster in everything but the R/T. Tires didn't even squeak on the launch. Better than a 2.25 60'? You bet. Pretty miserable ET and trap. I'm #55 and Scott is #56.

2nd run I figured I try to get a data log 'cause I figure I'm losing timing with an IAT up around 120*... Fiddling with the buttons while I'm watching the tree. I got the R/T down but fumbled on the gas peddle. I had decided to abandon the brake stall and just roll into it from an idle. Seemed like a perfect launch with just a bit of tire squeal so I have no idea what happened to my 60'. Everything else seemed to be a bit faster but I guess it was all due to the R/T.

We spot Budoboy. He runs something like a 13.2 or something at 108 mph. Nearly empty tank with a couple of gallons of jet fuel in there...
3rd run was my best but I was late again and had a bit of wheel spin for about the first 20' (you can see it on the data log). I think the friggin gale force winds we were driving into were killing us. 13.45? haha, eat your heart out Chris!

4th run is a minor disaster. (It was only a "minor" disaster because the 5th run was a major disaster...) I was late, again. I figured since it was going so well I'd try rolling into it a bit more than last time. bad idea. I had to lift a bit to get it to hook up. I'm in the right lane this time. Mach1 in the left lane ran a 14.1 and beat me (by 0.02).

Ok... time for the bracket racing. All of a sudden the temp has dropped about 20* since the last run. It's still blowing but it's nice and cool. I'm going to have all kinds of get up and go now. I'm figuring the last thing you want to do is break out. Best to go conservative and take advantage of all the peasants screwing up in various ways. I go for a dial of 13.25! haha, I'm figuring I'm going to break out anyway. Who the hell knew the track was goin to get slick as snot? I left late and then I had to lift TWICE out of the hole and then after I hit second I spun about 1/4 of the way though that gear. I didn't realize it at first. I thought the shift into second felt a little soft and kind of like it was sluggish after that and then it was like the rubber band unloaded with a sling shot effect. That's about the time I figured out I had been spinning after the shift. Weird feeling. Shortly after that the crusty bastard in the Joe's Septic Tank Service pickup truck with the 11 second dial blew by me like a jet airplane. Chit, I thought he had blown up on the line. Sometime before it had crossed my subconcious that if they were staggering the start they would be doing it like on pinks. Just a fleeting thought since everybody was starting at the tree... Scott told me later "Oh, I forgot to tell you they stagger the start with the lights". Thanks buddy, I figured I had to get a good launch since I was running against a septic tank truck with huge drag radials on it. Anyway, this guy blows by me and slams on the brakes so he crosses the line barely in front of me. That's about the time it dawned on me that if you have the fastest car you just run down the other guy and fender race the rest of the way. I think a 9 second car would do it for me.

It was a major blast. I might have to move up to Sears Point. Looks like houses should be pretty cheap there.

Nice write-up Quick! Nice to meet you and Cheatek and get to sit in a Challenger.

I ran 13.10, 13.01 and 13.001. I guess the track gods didn't want me to see 12's lol!

Dave ... HAHAHHAHHAHAHHAA, GREAT write up man, I love you!! LMAO!! Couple quick things cause I'm at work (I'll post more later). First, if any of you EVER get a chance to meet Dave (Quick) DO IT, he's a GREAT guy!! Loads of brain power (why I call him Mr. Wizard, lol) and FUN as hell to hang out with, I HAD A GREAT TIME and it was almost soley because of him!!

Also Jeff (budoboy), GREAT to meet you!!! SWEET ride man, you gotta post some pix so everyone can see ... seriously guys, his Charger is FRIGGIN SWEET!!!!!! Jeff is a GREAT guy too, I instantly felt at home talking to him even tho I had to look up to the stratosphere to find him, lol, (yea, he's REAL tall!). He's funny and smart and just fun to be around (wish you would have gotten there sooner bro!). Look forward to meeting up again sometime!

Ok, the track, right now I'm just gonna add a few quick things to what Dave said (I'll post more later).

REGARDLESS of R/T and wheel spin and all those other EXCUSES someone said, a win is a win is a win AND I BEAT DAVE!!! Period. We only lined up once together but that was enough, Scotty wins.

BTW all you B&G naysayers, eat crock!! Check Dave's first time slip, sure I got him at the tree but w/the pred and a custom tune I expected him to BLOW by me. He never did. He gained slightly but never enough to catch me. Sooooo, I'm keeping the B&G, it works and the cost for a Pred w/custom tune is just not worth the maybe 1/10 in et I'd get. I keep telling all you dummies how much I like the B&G and how good it is and now HERE is the proof!! LEAVE ME ALONE ABOUT THE PRED, I'M NOT GETTING ONE!! Lol!!

Also Dave's car and mine were pretty even ... weight, tire pressure, engine temps and we have close to the same mods which is why we ran consistantly close the whole day. That being said a couple of major points I need to make ...

I won our head to head!
I had the best R/T (.011) (right behind you Chris!)
I had the quickest et (13.32)
I had the fastest trap speed (105.36)

ME!! Just needed to get that straight. Hahahahahaha! (and I don't have 20 years experience, I only ran ONCE before about 20 years ago lol, get it right Dave, lmao!!)

BTW, I was disapointed with the times and especially mph that we ran, our bests were what our cars should run stock so IDK, maybe the temps and head winds were the prob but I thought we'd both get into the high 12s. Next time maybe.

There were more cars there than I had seen all year but we still got a good amount of runs in. Luckily no one blew up there car which seems like a pretty regular happening there. That usually delays things a bunch as they move the car, scoop up the pieces and wipe up the oil/antifreeze.
