Well last time I was there was loooooooooooooooooooooooooong ago so I guess things change. Like Dave said what I'm mostly after is the few free runs before the bracket crap starts. Gates at 330, racing at 5 so for 1 1/2 hours it's free time and the email I got from the track said you can usually get 2-3 runs in if not more. Once the bracket stuff starts I'll prolly run once and then head out, that's not my thing. It's also fun just to watch too.
Gates open at 3:30. Usually they run by 4:00. Brackets start around 7:00. I was going very regularly in April and May and generally there were not a lot of cars this year compared to last probably due to economy and gas prices.
You got that right, I'm sure gas prices will have some effect, sad but true. Where do you live bro? You mentioned the weather earlier and I thought you were crazy but I'm looking out my window and suddenly the skies don't look so good, you know something I don't?? Lol!
Ah, I was basing my experience on last summer when I got there half an hour early and there were 20-30 cars in front of me.
I'm in Martinez. What I meant is that I don't want to go if it is too hot. There is some kind of front moving through right now. REALLY doubt it will rain though.
I've seen that too. This year has been a little bit light. If you ever want to get alot of runs in go to the Mopar Drags at Infineon. The street car group probably only had 12-15 cars in it this year and we ran constantly. I couldn't even load a new Predator program before they were telling me to race again. I've been to Sacramento maybe 3 times in 6 years. Always seems like chaos there. Plus it is frickin hot in the summer!
Nce..I'll have to go to the next one at Infineon. And yeah, the last time I was at Sacramento it was nearly 32 degrees out and I was freezing my ass off. RobAGD managed to get the lowest time ever on my Charger though. 13.0 stock.
Actually you were right on the rain part, it did rain last night, unbelievable. I was freaking out!!! I owe you an appology bro ... I'm sorry! :huglove: Supposed to be fine today and be in the high 70s to low 80s at the track later so all should be good. Quick and I will be there, if you decide to go look for us ... red and black maggies. Next time bro, next time for sure! This was total last minute, sorry. :flowers:
you better do a full write up and have pics!....plus i wanna hear every time from every run including RT's, 60' s, 1/8 mile mph and times, and 1/4 times and MPH!!!!!
I was just thinking bout that. You'll get all the info but IDK about pix. Only Dave and I and we'll be running so I have no idea who's gonna take pix, might not be any, at least no "action" shots. Funny that Chris just popped his "cherry" at the track cause this will be Dave's first time too. 2 cherries popped within a week of each other, hahahahhahaa! For me technically it's not my "first time" but it's been so long I almost feel like a virgin again, lol! Girls, is that possible?? Hahahhahaa
Really this will be big D's first time? thats kewl! lets see which of you can break 2.10 60' time! hahahaha
Cool! I thought that's what he said but I could be wrong. Oh I'm guessin Dave will whip me pretty good, he's had waaaaaaaaaaay more experience testing his car on his "sooper secret" local 1/4 mile track he concocted, lol! Most of my "races" have been rolling so I'm guessing I'll have crap 60s and won't break into the 12s, even tho I should. OH, what's the best lauch tech for our cars?? ESP off? Revs to what 1500?? Roll into it?? Ron posted a good lauch technique somewhere but I couldn't find it last night.
I'm not the best but I usually get between 1.97 and 2.04 I push ESP button once (partial disable), do a quick 1-2 second burnout after driving around the water, rev to about 1200 rpm or so and roll into the throttle. As the night gets cooler it is usually harder for me because the car gets stronger and traction gets worse due to cooler track surface/tires.
