NICE!...my father has stayed at the hotel there like a dozen times for work but can never get out there to play....My dads friend is moving to FL and I will be down there pretty often (and im keeping a set of clubs down there) so ill let you know when im around.....

I have never kept a true handcap....but if i had to put a # on it i'd say 12ish...i can shoot between 75 and 90 depending on how f'ed up my back is LOL

I think if I can get a 3I and a Gap wedge I have pretty much every distance that I realistically can get into covered. I have only met 1 par 5 I couldnt easily reach in 2....and thats cause it was 653 lol....

I didnt even do that to mess with you chris hahahaha i swear lol

thats smart right there and i wish I could also but I can't decide with club to give up in order to add another 60 degree LW ..

    D - 9 degree Callaway FT-IQ ..
1R and 3R King Cobra DWS Baffler Hybrids
    Callaway X20 Irons .. 4 through 9 - Dynamic Gold Steel Shaft/Custom Fit
Callaway Forged Vintage Wedges 46 (PW), 52, 56 and 60
Odyssey Black Series putter (love it!)

I played today after work .. I was hitting the fairways out of the tee box .. my distance was up .. 290 - 300 and my putting was on .. I just couldnt hit a green in regulation!!! WTF.

I naturally play a draw, but I am literally fucked until I can play a cut ...

For some reason...I can NOT hit a hybrid club...

Most people have difficulty hitting the higher irons...but i hit my 4 iron as good as any club....

I had a side hill lie on sunday...choked up on the club down to the metal...put a decent swing on it and still hit it 230...7 yards shy of the green in the fairway

I wanna try the *gasp* 1 iron just for kicks hahahah

The 4iron is mainly there for relief ... my CC has a lot of trees, so when my driver isnt working, a hooded punch shot with the 4 iron gets me back in the fairway ..

I did the Callaway Fit Center about 5 years ago and the clubs came back on point .. since then my golf pro has made any adjustments to my clubs since joining a club .. lie angle and such. My dad got talking into the TM fit center .. he got these new r7 irons (i think) graphite shafts, he hits them like shit .. he bailed on his Ping G5's(?) for them, but hes had to completely alter his game. I dont know if its if the clubs were made/fit wrong or what ..

The King Cobra Hybrids are the best on the market IMO .. their feel surpasses any other club .. I'm able to work the ball more, wider face is more forgiving ..

I used to top a hybrid all the time .. now that I crush the hybrid, my 4iron is shit .. you figure it out! lol

my 4 iron is for when i fuck myself and i put one in the trees or something and am left with 240 to the hole or something like that...too close for a 3 wood lol

I have never been "fitted" for a club.

When I got my driver (as you can tell) they originally were like heres a stiff shaft...you'll be fine haha

and when I got my irons, i got them as is. no fitting nothing.

I am sure I could get benefit out of getting fitted for real.

I would also be willing to bet its MUCH easier for me to go from RAC's to R7's becuase im going TM to TM rather than Ping to TM...I hit a few different types of the irons and it wasnt much of a contest that I liked how the R7's felt. Most people dont like them, I do lol.

I have also never had a lesson in my entire life as far as the swing is concerned.

My golf classes were more me helping people with my instructor....most people barely if ever picked up a golf club before lol...so i asked him a few things about my swing but he never really had time to do any real work with me as he was busy helping out the 20 other people in the class haha....

I had 1 lesson in putting and it has greatly improved my green play....but other than that...my dad taught me the basics...and the rest i just taught myself. I have a "natural" swing so its really a matter of refinement if anything.

Sad thing is I could probably be a golf instructor and explain everything about improving someones swing. I have played with guys who couldnt hit the ball to save their life and after 4 holes of "minor instruction" had them all over the fairways.

Its just that DOING it and knowing what to do sometimes dont mix hahahahahaha

Stevo..... most people play Hybrids wrong. They play them like a 3 wood and driver. You need to play them like a 7 iron in your stance. I love mine and wouldn't trade them for anything. I play Adams' Hybrids. Here's what all I play since everyone is listing their sets.....

Callaway FT-5 10.5* Driver with a Graffaloy Blue 65 gram Stiff
Taylor Made R9 TP 3 wood
Adams 3 Hybrid---- used by Brad Bryant(IIRC) on Champs Tour with a crazy Aldila shaft
Adams 4 Hybrid with a stock 75 gram Stiff Aldila Proto shaft
Callaway X Forged irons with Project X 6.5 Rifle Shafts
Titlest Vokey Spin Milled 54.10* and 60.07* wedges
    Titlest Vokey 56.14* wedge
Slotline SL-955 Prototype putter---- not available yet and maybe never but I LOVE IT!:D
Titlest Pro-V1 balls and occasionally Callaway Tour IX
All clubs gripped with Winn Excel W6 grips.... Mmmmmmm.... sooooo nice!

Right now I'm a 3 handicap but that's only b/c I shot a damn 67 a few weeks and and dropped me from a 6. That round is going to haunt me for months! I usually shoot 72-79, depending on whether or not I drink or don't drink.:D

So if I can hit the long irons good (like consistently good) is there any benefit to wasting money on Hybrids? lol

Yeah..... they're much easier to hit out of rough and bad lie. They're called "Rescue Clubs" for a reason.:D Hybrids for the majority of people are easier to hit. It's up to you. I'd start by replacing your 3 iron with a 3 Hybrid and go from there. I got rid of my 3 and 4 iron and won't look bad. Misses are much better as well. If you miss a 3 or 4 you won't get much distance out of them like you would a hybrid.

A hybrids big advantage is the ability to get the ball airborne, ususally out of pretty much anywhere, sand, ruff, fairway, etc. Being able to get the ball higher has a better chance of coming down steeper thus the ability to attack the pin better. I have a hard time getting my five iron high, much less being able to stop the ball on the green by the pin with a 3I...Lol! I say try them... if they are no better than your irons, they would be a waste of money for you, but most people who get used to them, myself included, will never go back to long irons. Just remember, playing with your irons for so long and being used to how they look, feel and react, it will take some time before you get comfortable with the hybrids... but give them a chance. Sounds like you hit the ball correctly and your launch angle is not a problem, so they may not make as much of an improvement as it would a hacker like myself.

ding! ding! ding! That about covers it (you left out how much easier and forgiving it is to hit one out of a fairway bunker). Hit 'em anywhere, same distance, much higher trajectory and softer landing. If you're going to be playing links courses in Ireland then your long irons might be better.

    K so....

    1) I have never had any issues hitting the long irons so I am not too worried about "forgiveness"
    2) I dont WANT the ball to go any higher than it already does LOL quite the opposite actually.
    3) I had a 3 Hybrid in my bag for 2 years, and for 2 years i struggled with it before I gave it to my brother...I COULD NOT hit that f'er straight to save my life...

so we shall see...maybe ill test out a couple of hybrids or something....see if they work....

Not being funny, but "you're just too good a player"... golphers with better skills and long iron playability like Ben Hogan and others probably wouldn't see much of a difference with Hybrids. But, like I said with the new technology, you can't go wrong just giving them a try. Don't buy any unless you have a shop that has the "try it" policy. Here in San Diego, there are a few stores that have a 90 day play it policy. You can't get a refund, but you can get a full exchange even if you want to get balls or whatever. Maybe one of your buddies will let you use one of the new ones for a month or so depending on how much you play. A lot of places like the course you play a lot will lend you a "demo" club that are usually brand new... I'm sure as much as you play you have a hook up or two...

    Golfsmith has a 90 day 90% policy...

you can use it for 90 days and if you dont like it you can return it for a 90% store credit for whatever you purchased
