Had my scrolling lisence plate frame set to repeat " BRING ON YOUR SLOW ASS FORD MUFFSTAIN!!!" which for some reason, was getting alot more attention than usual. Folks were comming back time and again showing their friends. It was then my dumb ass remembered that this was as participant - judged show and I'd just screwed myself out of a hell of a lot of Mustang owner votes,oh well, to late now!. Then I heard this big ol' galoot muttering " He better loose about 6,000 lbs before he messes with me" I say, What do you have? He says" I got 650 hp in a 3,000 lb car, and I don't have to do it with nitrous!" I say, " Well, more like 3,600lb but what did you do" Him, " I got a blower" Me, "OOOH!, But don't they all have blowers?" " I have a blower in the plan too..." Already some distance, I notice him trying to walk further away without answering the tough questions in front of his wife. Now he probably would have killed me, no doubt, but I wasn't going to give him that, espically when I know he is s-t-r-e-c-h-i-n-g the truth. He didn't add no 300 hp by swapping pullys. Why is it seen by some as cheating,or taking the easy way out, to use nitrous? To my way of thinking, Ford took the easy way out using blowers. Why couldn't they manage 425hp 420 tq N/A like Chrysler did? We still have the option to" take our other hand from behind our back" and add a blower later(get 'em Ron!). What do they have left to do then? Won first place anyway!:yahoo:
lol Great story Howard. And, Congrats on the win buddy. Now, where is this crap talking fool. JMatt and others have something for him.. muahahahahaa
awesome! congrats on the win bro! f those a-holes right in their stupid a's if they cant deal w/losing to a 4 door sedan made by a different company!
Bet you didn't get that guy's vote, lol!! Congrats on the win and putting that stang-banger in his place!
Oh and to be serious for a sec, the reason ford doesn't get 400+ horse stock is cause they're keeping their motors smaller for less emissions and better mileage. 370 cubes puts out a lot of polutants and gets worse mileage ... as we all know, lol! Also they sell waaaaaaaaay too many mudstains to have them get crappy mileage, that'd kill their CAFE numbers right there. Smaller displacement motors with blowers are the future, sadly it's already happening.
Wouldn't the factory blower kill any mileage benefits obtained by less cubes? Look at all the cubes a vette has and still 30 on the highway.
Theoretically a blower (s/c or turbo) will improve mileage by improving engine efficiency, giving big displacement power in a small engine. Any gains are usually offset by "lead foot-itis" though, lol! There's a lot of small turbo motors out there that are not designed for performance at all, they're designed for fuel efficiency. Isn't it VW that has that small 1 something liter engine that's both turbo and supercharged?? Yikes! BTW, you're exactly right bout the Vette's. How they get that mileage is amazing! My neighbor has a C6 and says he gets near 30 on the hwy. WOW!!
I'm not sure of the displacement, but I do know that VW has that setup. The supercharger is used for low-end power and torque, then it switches over to the turbocharger to cover the high-end stuff. It's a pretty slick setup.
Yea, but here's my point, it's not designed for performance, it's designed for efficiency to give better mileage, not horsepower. Kinda interesting idea though.
