I love my neon but my neon hates me...

So I have spent weeks sorting out a suspension problem and I think I have finally sorted it out.

Now that it is sorted out I noticed something this morning, and having had a chance to dig around yet.

From a cold start the motor revs up to about 1.5k and starts to fade back down. However I am hearing an audible *click* from the gas tank. It does not do it after warmed up, and I have power cycled the car and it has not returned.

Am I correct to assume my fuel pump is going out? or is there something else I should be looking at. Mind you I have not done the fuel pump rewire...

 

i dont think its the fuel pump cause they will get loud first or they just go out

is the click only once?

 

every 30 seconds until it hits running temp... then goes away for a day... (or shut down for an extended period of time.. ie 8+ hours)

i got a spare stock fuel pump if you wanna swap it to see if thats the issue
