Yes...it's true. The remnants of Hurricane Ike came through central Ohio today. And let me tell you, if these were the 'left-overs', I can't imagine how harsh it was at landfall or in Houston. This is from my neighbor's house across the street: ...upon closer inspection: Note the bench. It was the ONLY piece of furniture in the backyard, but that tree found it. Center mass. His favorite tree on the side of the house ended up horizontal as well: We're gonna try to save that guy. Spotted some scary situations on the way to Pizza Hut to pick up dinner too... Just down the street from us: Since the roundabout was closed (WOOHOO! Finally!), I took the back roads, and found this fallen tree just hanging by the power lines directly above both lanes of the road: ...and this: Yikes! Our place came out okay, with only one medium-sized branch coming down away from the house. Others were not as lucky. I hope that everyone stayed safe and made it back to the forum in one piece.
Just wind man! We got it bad in Indiana too! 40-50MPH gusts. I'd hate to go through a hurricane after seeing what those piddly winds did.
Ditto what you guys have said. Remnants of the storm blew up through here last night...I thought the rafters were gonna tear off and we got 50 mm of rain. As a contractor, it should be interesting to see what freaky calls my office gets today.
It rained almost all weekend in the Detroit area. Sucked. I'm talking all day and all night. Sump pumps were working overtime....like I have a back up as well...just in case.
yeah we had record rainfall....75.2mm (shattered the record of 39.1mm in 1979). Rained for almost 48 hours straight.....
yeah it was bad here in Columbus and in Cleavland. I left town at 4PM and went and sat in Cleavland Browns Stadium through it all again as it moved up the state.
My mom works at All-State processing claims and she's been getting calls from all over related to Ike. She's now dreading whatever hurricane comes next and very thankful she's up in Cheyenne, Wyo.
