Turn on Predator and goto the Performance Tunes line. Agree to the disclaimer Press the Custom Tune line (not sure on the Diablo Canned Tunes?) Select the tune that you prefer (if you have more than 1 tune saved). Go to the Modify Tune line. Agree to disclaimer Then select Modify Parameters. Now you need to look for the "Cooling Fans AC Off" line. Now you will see 6 sublines. 170* Setting 180* Setting High MPH HS Fan On 184.xx 195.xx LS 166.xx 178.xx MS 175.xx 185.xx Low MPH HS Fan 184.xx 195.xx LS 166.xx 178.xx MS 184.xx 195.xx Once done with the above, exit back to the list of parameters you want to modify and go down one line to the, Cooling Fans AC On line. There will only be 3 sublines to do here: HS Fan On 184.xx 195.xx LS 166.xx 178.xx MS 184.xx 195.xx Exit out and install tune. Oh yea, follow the direction when all else fails. lol
Thanks Ron for walking me through it on the phone!! Disclaimer - I talked to Ron before he started the thread.....turds!
and then call Ron on the phone. oh: dahahaha In case anyone is wondering, Low MPH is less than ~8 mph? The temps specified are the temps the fan will turn ON. Once on, the fan will run until the temp goes some degrees below the turn on temp (I think it's about 3*). You can set the Mid speed fans the same as the high or low ones 'cause I don't think we have "mid speed" fans (at least no one has said otherwise). I'm not so sure I'm a fan (<-- haha, I crack myself up) of those settings. You have the low speed fans set to come on below the point where the t-stat opens. The implication is that your low speed fans are on ALL the time. Is that what you want?
Good info Ron, thanks!...........Not to get off topic but I can't figure out how to save more than 1 custom tune to the Diablo, is there a special area for this?
By the time the LS fan comes on, the t-stat is just opening. And no, they are not open all the time. The 170* setting is from DynoSteve's tune to me. The 180* is what I WAS using with my old tune. It worked well for me during the spring weather, but now that we are consistently in the 90's and above, the 170* keeps me no hotter than 188*.
Once the DSdownloader connects to the Predator there will be tabs on the bottom. Click the one for Advanced Tuning. You can build your list of custom tunes there. The handheld has limited space. It will crap out (or you get a corrupted tune) if you exceed the space. Depends on the tune file sizes but you might get 4 on there at one time.
Yes. It is in the Diablo program DS Downloader) in your PC. When you open the DS Downloader, go to the Advanced Tuning tab (bottom of window). Click on "Add Tune" and pick the tune you want to load into the Predator. You will need to do the previous five times. Once you have the desired tunes in the "List of Tunes to Download" box, then click on the "Send to Tool" button (top of the page next to the HELP button).
The highspeed fan will run until the temp falls 8* below the temp setting. When I had my highspeed fan set to 194* it would run until the temp reached 186 then it turned off. I'm guessing the lowspeed fan would run the same way. DynoSteve just tuned my car so my fan settings are much lower than before. His reasoning...better to replace a fan motor than your engine itself. Steve's a cool guy!!!
Yea well i burnt out my cooling fans in my Chrysler with a Diablo tune and let me tell you it was NO walk in the park getting those fans at the dealer and replaced.....and the car was just as stationary as having a blown engine........ I guess i'll take my chances again:getlost:
I swear your brain is growing right infront of me! Paul answer the question bro or are you out doing your next badass video?
It wouldn't really matter would it? I have the impression that the fans are not made to run constantly. You can hear the high speed fans. So what you need to do to check the low speed fan settings is let the car idle with the hood up. Stand up there and check to see if the low speed fans turn off periodically. If you run back and look at the EVIC real quick you can see the temps where they kick on and turn off.
I lowered them myself to many guru's specs and they were NOWHERE NEAR as low as these settings are...... Mine are higher and SAFE now......like around 180,190,200 degrees cuz i don't want to risk FRYING the motors in hot weather which is what happened to my Chrysler..... These engines were MADE to run hot...like 215.....and i do agree there is power to be salvaged with a cooler thermostat and manifold spacers but driving in traffic in 100 degree weather for hours with ur fans constantly running will only........ MELT UR FAN'S WIRING HARNESS AND FRY THE MOTOR AS IT DID MINE!
I already lost the low-speed fan motor and fan itself and had it replaced a month or so ago. The low-speed fan cracked in half and apparently rubbed against the inside of the fan shroud and burnt out the motor. I'm not sure why the fan cracked in half and neither does the dealer...but hey, they covered it all under warranty.
You guys need to consider that even if the fans run ALL the time, they should not just fail like that. Chrysler tests these things in 100°+ weather all day, under abusive conditions to boot. Considering they offer a 5 (10 year?) warranty on the fans, they have no desire to have them fail at ANY point, so they are tested to be able to run way more than they would ever need to in a vehicle. My guess would be that any fan failures have not been a direct cause of the tunes, but rather a wiring issue, or somply a bad unit. Thanks Mike
Absolutely correct Mike. What I found was the original HS fan in my car was defective. Yes, it burnt out 1 1/2 years ago. Had it replaced and has worked fine ever since. And I still have my fan mod where i keep it on when parked at home (after hard driving) or at the track. Thanks for chiming in. Oh, no one has to use my settings. lol Just use the directions on how to program the desired fan temps.
