I have probably been to the track 6-7 times where I put in the 25 cent fan mod and let it run for 5 hours straight. I guess that if the fan motor was not going to burn up then, it may never (...knocking on wood).
i had the same issue with my HS fans as well ron!!! took a dump after a year of ownership while sitting in traffic on a hot day!!! this was BEFORE predator and not using my gsm fan mod!!! just had a bad unit from what my dealer tech told me. they replaced EVERYTHING (low / hi motors and fans themselves) and i have not had an issue since!!! btw, i have mine set at 184 186 190...... both ac on & off......
Take my 170 and 180 settings and subtract accordingly. My settings are to personal preference, so do what you feel comfortable with.
You do know you're probably going to throw CEL codes with a 160 and fans set to match. No problems if you're just using it at the track but otherwise you're going to throw codes. I forget now but the car wants to see the coolant go up over about 167* and do it in a certain amount of time. something like that.
dave - i remember reading the same thing on lxf many moons ago as well. something about the car thinking that the thermostat has malfunctioned and throwing off the computers calibration of fuel/timing/etc. at least i think is what i recall reading....it has been awhile.....but i do remember people definately saying they threw codes!
Well, it doesn't throw anything off or change anything. It thinks the t-stat has malfunctioned. It's remotely possible it might stay in an open loop start/warm up mode of operation I guess.
Wrong. It just might wait a few seconds before going into closed loop. In closed loop it's going to use the short term fuel adaptives but it might not update the long term fuel adaptives. Seems that it's a good idea to make sure your ECT goes over 170 (and maybe 190). If you go down a little further they give a bit more detail. Sounds like you might only need to get over the threshold and then it doesn't matter if/when you fall back below it. Remember that the long term fuel adaptive is used in open loop modes (like WOT) so it's probably a good idea to have it "adapted".
ya know dave, i have been hunting on lxf for that thread and could not find it! i do think your comment about open loop is the discussion that was had. again, i am going by a very shaky memory..... hehehehehehe
i have the diablo and people said that it aleaready thinks i have a 180 thermo im putting a 170 in will i have to ajust anthing
Oops, sorry! No, that is a custom tune setting Ron received from DynoSteve...or at least really close to it. I received very similar fan settings from my tune from B&G.
The stock stat temp is 203 degrees, correct? What were the stock settings to go with this stock stat? Thanks, Keith
yes. hmmm I "Think" they were along the lines of... 215 high speed 208 mid 208 low Not absolutely positive though.
