The stock shifter base bushings are a bit weak giving the shifter unit itself play. Energy Suspension makes shifter base bushings that will cure this problem. With these bushings you will feel better shift response as well as a sustained shifter.

    Parts Needed:
Energy Suspension Shifter Base Bushings (Part# 5.1110G)

    Tools Needed:
    1. Flat head screwdriver
    2. Screwdriver
    3. 13mm socket
    4. 3/8" extension
    5. Ratchet (socket wrench)

Step 1: Clear your center console (floorboard). Meaning removing any loose change, pens, sunglasses etc. Remove the stock shift knob by gripping it with both hands and pulling hard upwards.

Step 2: Remove the shift boot by pushing in and pulling upward on the back side of the shift boot as shown in the pic below...

Step 3: Remove the screws which hold the center console to the floorboard. Screw locations shown below (total of 6 screws)...

Step 4: Remove the center console. Make sure the e-brake is all the way up. Pull up on the center console in an angle towards the back seat to remove it.

Step 5: You now have access to the shifter unit. Its held to the body of the car by (4) nuts show in the below pic. Remove these nuts.

Step 6: Grab a hold of the front and rear of the shifter unit and pull up so its off the studs that the nuts were screwed unto.

Step 7: Remove the spacers (inserts) that are within the rubber shifter base bushings. I removed them by hand but you can also remove them with a flathead screwdriver.

Step 8: Remove all 4 stock shifter base bushings by pushing them out with a flathead screwdriver.

    ***NO LUBRICATION NEEDED***

Step 9: Take the ES Shifter Base Bushing rings and place them through the shifter studs as shown in the picture below. Take the other ES Shifter Base Bushings and push them through the shifter base holes as shown in the picture below.

Step 10: Take the shifter base spacers (inserts) taken from the stock base bushings and place them through the ES shifter base bushings. Now put the shifter back on the studs and line up the bottom ES shifter base bushing rings. Press down on each one while aligning. Once aligned push down.

Step 11: Put the nuts on the studs and tighten evenly. Once finished it should look like this...

Step 12: Put the center console back on, tighten all 6 screws, put the shifter boot back on, put the stock shifter back on and bang down on it with the bottom of a clentched fist.

    Thats it... enjoy!
