haha our hoods are aluminum. When I had the car painted, I had the window squirters shaved and my painter had to send the hood out to have the holes filled in by braising with aluminum filler. When the hood came back, I wanted to see the work, so when I grabbed the hood of the work bench, I lifted as if it were an old school hood and went flying across the shop. lol Yup, I could hold the up with my index finger.
I knew the hood was alum but didnt realize it was that light...too bad they didnt make the whole body from alum.....Jaguar has an option for one of their models where you can get an alum body instead of steel...shaved almost 1K lbs off....
I wouldnt worry about lines a good painter will give you some great ideas they usually have a very creative thought process..... I run Trufiber, as a company they're just better in my opinion.... I tried to get CBD to make more stuff for the Mopar crowed they had me buy the parts i show up with said parts and they tell me sorry we are not interested but we can wrap those parts for a butt load of money... Trufiber in my book has a strong rep for fitting good and when it comes to after market they are the only hoods i will use period and they had no problem making the parts not sure which bracing you are talking about the hoods come standard black gloss gel coat on the bottom but you can get them CF on the bottom and hood pins are suggested but at 130 my hood doesnt move one bit and im not even considering installing them....
I wouldnt even be doing a hood if it wasnt for the fing hail lol. I was also thinking of doing the decklid but only for looks. I seriously seriously doubt that i am going to though. Good stuff to know. I have 90% of my CF stuff from CBD and I have liked it thus far. But a hood is a whole nother ballgame. The whole not moving thing is good cause @ 120+ on the 1320, I dont really want my hood to come flying off lol. I will look into it. Thanks for the suggestion dood.
So Al, I cant seem to find the OEM style CF hood on Truefibers website. They have it in Fiberglass, but not from what I can see in CF. They have other style CF hoods, but not a OEM style (from what I saw on the site).

I can't stand the window squirters on the hood. Cars have had them on the cowl panel for years. Or even wiper mounted squirters. But they ruin such a badass OEM hood with two pimples. Sorry. Rant off. PS, Go with the stock hood.
Well that would be why I didnt see it. Its listed under 08-10, not 05-07. I would assume the fitment is the same. Anyone verify this 100%?
if you click on 08-10 it shows the hood and under the description says its for 05-09 LOL think they just need to fix the site
I'm with ya. I was actually going to put the wiper mounted squirters on (Corvette wipers were a very close fit), but decided that I like the wiper delete mod as well. hehe I do carry the wipers in the trunk in case I get caught in bad weather.
What Dave said, another thought is getting the CF hood painted as a whole but leaving the lettering "Supercharged" in CF? I once saved 12 kg on replacing the hood on a race car and that totally transformed the car, I would love to do the same thing to my Maggie! Fredrik (Who don´t know what to vote for more than GET A CF HOOD!)
As ronnie said, its not a huge weight saver, but a little is better than none i suppose. I dont know that the guys painting the hood could pull off any of the lettering , but that could always be done later on. I am 85% sure I am going to go with the CF hood with the sides painted. I know I dont want the whole hood to be CF. If I really dont like the way it looks, I can paint more of the hood so just the scoop is exposed in CF, or if I dont like it all together, I can just paint the rest of the hood lol. But trying to get the paint off the CF would probably not work out very well for me, so hence why I am going with the smallest amount of paint first. We will see.
