So mother nature decided that I needed a new hood after the hail storm.

I am going between 4 options. I would like to get some feed back on everyone's opinion. Using my mad photoshop skills, i have put up some examples.

If it helps, I have CF Rear Diffuser, and CF License Plate backdrop (will get a pic), and lots of CF under the hood.

Option 1: Just replace the hood with the standards SRT8 hood.

    Option 2: CBD CF Hood

Option 3: CBD CF Hood w/ Sides Painted

Option 4: CBD CF Hood w/ Sides Painted....only leaving some CF exposed to spell out "SUPERCHARGED". Supercharged would essentially be "spelled out" in the carbon fiber. I couldnt make it look good so i just put a box where i'd spell out Supercharged.

So is the Supercharged lettering going to be subdued or standout? Did you consider moving the Supercharged lettering just into the CF instead of outside in the paint?

I am a fan of the OEM hood, but if you go with the CF hood, I would leave the hood as is and possibly have the Supercharged painted on the side of the scoop. But that's just me.

I dont want the POS knock off brand that they will inevitably stick me with if i go through insurance.

    Or,

I get buttslammed by the dealer and pay $2250+tax for one lol

my car isnt kewl like yours and the amount of things that I can do with the color of the car (at least to me) are limited.

I like the CF look (obviously lol) so I felt like this maybe a decent option.

I am leaning towards the CF hood with the sides painted. Not cause I dont like the idea of the writing, but mainly because I dont know that anywhere near me could pull it off the way I would want.

And I dont really like the whole hood look as CF for some reason.

Who knows, I can still be convinced otherwise lol. I have 10 days until I meet with insurance to figure out how much im getting lol.

How about CF, painted, Supercharged on the side of the scoop in flat matt grey ?

Do you think you could see that against the black/grey carbon fiber? Sorta like a "ghost flame" sorta thing?

Sure. The CF will be gloss. The lettering would be matt. Subtle, very nice. No, you're not going to notice it from across the road. I'm not a big fan of loud lettering.

I am going to have to see what the abilities the paint shops around here have lol.

I personally dont know of a good custom paint shop anywhere near me.

I think that the paint shop I may use could probably handle the paint only one.

I have to go talk to the owner later. He is a race team owner and I went to HS with his son (the racecar driver). So once I talk to him ill get a better idea on what the capabilities are.

If you can find a place that can pull off the lettering...that is the only way to go. :worthy: If not, then at least paint the sides. :thumb:

CBD, painted, except the hood scoop, leave it and paint or decal "Supercharged" on the sides. You could always decal it to see how it looks and paint later.

option 2...CBD and add the "Supercharged" decal pre-paint, paint, then carefully peal away the decal to have the lettering in carbon fiber.

Also, add a hood pin kit.

Not a bad idea with the decal thing.

I am going in on friday to speak to the body shop guys to see if they can do anything besides paint the whole thing.

They did a viper truck a few years back when they worked on my old Ram, so its possible they do some amount of custom work but i think the owner would end up having to do it.

Will look into the options some more

I say do the CBD hood, paint it, except for the scoop (Like Kyle said) and just have a custom decal/badge made like I did. LOVELY. And very subtle.

first i would ditch the CBD and go with the Trufiber CF version of the stock hood which is the better choice I would then have everything but the scoop painted to match the car with supercharger airbrushed on the sides of the scoop before clear coating...

My concerns with leaving just the scoop unpainted are the lines.

I'd probably have to see it (anyone photoshop? lol).

I chose the painted portion I did because it followed the contour lines of the hood.

With the scoop, it would follow the lines down to the bottom of the scoop, but then it kinda just falls off so to speak and it would just be a line.

I dont know I'd have to see it.

And Al, differences/advantages to the TrueFiber vs CBD? Is the underside of the hood CF as well? The CBD hood is designed with the OEM style bracing under the hood, is this also true of the TrueFiber hood? Also, Hoodpins arent REQUIRED for the CBD as they have an "OEM" latching system. I have run Aftermarket hoods forever on the mustang with no issue, will this be an issue with the TrueFiber?

I would do the CF painted....I am leaning towards a CF hood and trunk to lose weight..

The OEM hood only weighs like 10 pounds. The CF is what. 5? Not worth the cost for a small weight savings. IMO.
