Some of you know I have been on the road the last three weeks in Japan. I took a little break in the action yesterday and visited the Tokyo Auto Show. This is where the Japanese automakers try and dazzle the folks at home with weird and wonderful concept cars. The year show has been really scaled down from previous years. I guess most of the recession weary foreign automakers stayed away from this year’s show, except Lotus, Harley Davidson, Mercedes.. The biggest names in Japan were all there showing off their latest models. This included plenty of electric vehicles, fuel cell cars, and other environmentally friendly autos. There were also some advance peaks of the eye catching sports cars like Honda’s CR-Z hybrid, which goes on sale next year, and Toyota’s FT-86, available in 2011. The one display that caught my eyes was the twin screws for a 6.0 Liter supercharger. They are made by IHI formerly, (Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries). The application for this supercharger is for a diesel powered tank. I thought they sure looked familiar to a familiar vendor who vanished. The one screw is made out of some kind of hard plastic, and has holes drilled for cooling. I thought the show was an interesting experience, to see, some of the Japanese technology. There were lots of Japanese vendors with some real quality products. I thought I would share some of the pictures I took of the event. I thought Ron would look good behind the wheel of this machine!
Thanx for the pics....looked like alot of fun! Gotta love those little sexy Japanese models walking around!
