NEW Sound Clip Zoomers CATBACK on CSRT8

    SRTers

I have an 06 CSRT and I have purchased a Zoomer's Exhaust to have installed and replace my Borla catback...

I wanted the growl...but I am getting a pretty heavy drown in the cabin...are any of you experiencing this...?

From the Zoomer's website videos, there does not seem to be any drown...but I am getting a significant amount.

I believe the initial reason was the Zoomers was installed with the midpipes of the Borla, versus stock...this has been fixed...but the shop working on the car told me the exhaust still sounds the same. He was not sure about the drown because he had not driven it yet, but said it sounded the same...

Looking for feedback from other Zoomer owners?

    Thanks

    Scott

I replaced my Corsa's with Zoomers and noticed an increase in "cabin noise"....whenever I say "droan" people let me know that Zoomers have no droan. But, there is "cabin noise". LOL

    Rick,

Is the cabin noise a heavy droan? When I would step on it, it felt like the whole dam cabin was separating from the rest of the car...it is painful...I know a lot of this had to do with the borla attached to the zoomers versus the stock...but the shop is telling me it is still loud...I know the zoomers is louder than stock and Borla, but is it really loud in the cabin?

    Is that what you have?

Make sure that that the muffler and/or X-Pipe is NOT touching the floor board.

Scott, mine is a rumble/droan at cruising speeds...but it's NOT painful! And it's definitely not THAT loud!

Mine are not annoying at all (Charger SRT-8). However, the first 5 days it did sound like some screws were rattling loose, but they settled in nicely after that break-in period. Maybe give it a few days? Here is a soundclip from inside my cabin. Good luck.

Love mine, and still wish they were a little louder (except when I get in at 0100). They did get better sounding with time. Like Ron said, make sure nothing is "touching" the floorboard.

Did they use clamps or did they weld it? When I had mine installed with clamps, there was slippage and exhaust leaks causing a significant amount of yes, DRONE, in the cabin. After getting them welded in place, no issues.

And different people have different ideas of drone. Mine is if you have a pen sitting loose in the slot next to the shifter and it makes rattles because of your exhaust noise you got drone. With the Zoomers properly installed, I don't have that. I just hear that lovely bassy sound in low gears and after initial start-up when the pipes are cold. Or at WOT, but that's to be expected. Last, it does make a slightly annoying grumbly noise between 65-70 mph, which is probably why I usually drive north of 72.

That's the kind of technical explanation that gives Dave (Quick) aneurysms and cause his circuitry to fry. <cannot compute....starting to melt> LOL

Thanks all...I will be picking the charger up when I get back from Ohio...so I am hoping cabin noise will be closer to what you all describe...

I also went ahead and took the plunge and picked up the Diablo...so car will have a new tune as well...any advice is greatly appreciated as well...

    Thanks all

With Zoomers, your car will be 'loud' (that's an individual perspective/opinion)... but actual drone? Should NOT be there. Like Ron said, make sure nothing is touching your floor pan and have them double check to make sure everything is snug.

Also, the crossmember can touch the pipe, even when you think there is space between the pipe and the member. I put spacers (washers) on the crossmemeber as spacers, and it helped with low speed vibration. Good luck.

    Hey all

Basically, the Zoomers was installed with the Borla midpipe, versus stock...once the Borla piece was removed, that Zoomers's vroom came through!
