My understanding is that pre to post variance is what counts (and naturally it checks to see if they are working).
its not often but sometimes what i do has some reason behind it lol wont be for at least 2 weeks... Dropped my car off today to have the SHR trans installed and other odds and ends done lol. but if I remember I can monitor on my way back from picking it up.
Ok...we have now added two foulers and we are still getting codes. I haven't read the codes since the addition of the second set of foulers, but the first time we got a 0325 knock sensor code and slow 02 sensor response codes. Where should I go from here?
So you should have 2 foulers on each side. The fouler that you have the 02 sensor is drilled out...the other is the way you bought it. what you can do, is try drilling out the non drilled fouler in order to let a little bit more of the exhaust gasses get to the sensor. This should allow it to read a little faster/better which gets the slow response code away. You may get a "lean" code as well, that can be handled the same way. At least was for me. Ron...was that simple enough? lol
The KS P0325 code is likely unrelated, and you either have a bad sensor (or going bad) or burned the insulation from wire and it's shorting to ground. Check wiring first, then replace sensor(s) if needed. On the 02 slow response, try drilling the fouler hole a tiny bit larger...very few have done this once and nailed it, it will take some tweaking to get it to work properly. (or so i've read, never attempted personally). Keep us posted.
On the slow response also make sure you didn't put the foulers on the upstream 02's.....I have seen that more than a couple of times.
Well I didn't end up doing the work. The customer said he wanted to do it and I let him. During a conversation we had just an hour ago he told me he put the anti foulers on the front 02's. They suppose to go on the rears correct?
...and it might be a good idea to get them off the fronts right away. Those are the ones the car uses to adjust the injector pulse width (long term adaptives) for 14.7:1 in closed loop operation... The front ones are before the cats, the back ones are after the cats. It only reads the back ones to compare to whatever the front ones are to see if the cat is working ok.
I knew I should have just done the job but the customer wanted to do it himself. I did tell him that they were for the rear 02's and I thought he understood that. If it weren't for a passing comment he made today I would have never found out that he put them in the wrong place til I saw the car again.
Yeah so true..... So the customer changed out the anti foulers to the rear 02's. Right now he has two each side. He stopped by today and the car is still showing the following codes P0430 Catalyst below threshold bank 2 P0133 02 circuit slow response Bank 1 sensor D and the PO325 Knock sensor. I haven't crawled under the car yet but I'm going to order a new knock sensor just in case, but what do you think regarding the other codes? The P0133 is a new code so does that mean we have too many anti foulers on?
Have you tried drilling the foulers out at all....the small hole could be restricitng howquickly the sensor is reading....u should start there....drilling out in small incraments till u find the spot
