Hellion FTW. They are local to me, and DJ knows his stuff. Can't wait to see this fully tuned. ahah And ABQ now has a potential tuner. WOOT!
Na, I'm not a turbo guy, but the Hellion kit is certainly in the top 2 of turbo kits. The local tuner is currently in training with Diablo. Wooooooo hoooooo
Yeah Hellion is the best IMO for turbos ... they have been the leader in the Mustang turbo world for years, so this is exciting for the HEMI now!
I'm sorry .. I dont know much about turbos BUT .. for $7995, I can get 510RWHP, BUT for $3000 I can get 540RWHP heads and cam AND for like $6500, I can get a Vortech, Techno, Novi supercharger and get like 560 ... so why a turbo AND .. we know how the stock engine 6.1 interals (thanks ron) handle to extreme boost, I take it a turbo system is easier on the motor because its only running at 5 lbs of boost thus not requiring a prospective turbo buyer to spend the money on a forged bottom end???
H/C pick up that much power on a 6.1?!?!? egad! Seriously when you talk about turbos you aren't just talking about the turbo system alone. You are taking in consideration fuel, exhaust, and of course intake, and everything in between. When you talk about SC platforms you are rarely talking about more than just the head unit, sure you can find packages to encompass all of the parts as stated with turbos with the exception of exhaust, but even then you are still in the same price range. Now when you are talking about price and performance between the options, you are really trying to compare a pineapple to a banana (even further off than apples and oranges by comparison) How each platform produces it's power and how it is delivered to the rear wheels are dramatically different. Most of the time people want to see "oh I have xxx horse power" but they do not really consider usability or the efficiency for the power. That is the purpose of dyno graphs to really give you an idea on how your car reacts to the power adder.
Agreed...one important thing that stands out to me are the Torque numbers...you don't see those with any type of S/C on these cars, same goes for a stroker. Obviously we need to see more install/tunes to see if this is teh case accross the board, but that # really stood out to me. Turbo's are defnitely not for everyone, but I am happy to finally see a REAL viable option for these cars.
sorry I meant a 426 gets 540 .. H/C is about 470 to 480 depending on other bolt ons and tune right???
Still pushing it with those numbers. 6.1L 430-450, depending on bolt ons, cam and tune. 7.0L 480-525, depending on bolt ons, C.R., cam and tune. That's a basic rule of thumb for us,...you could narrow it down to 6.1L @~440 and 7.0L @~500 If i have a choice between a S/C (any version) and a turbo, i would pick a turbo every time. Less parasitic loss, the power comes in more gradually, and typically you will generate more torque with a turbo at the same boost levels.
