10 hours into JUST the suspension portion of this install and I am going nowhere fast!!

Just to preface, this is on a Magnum SRT8. I am learning the hard way, that it seems as though the SRT is much different than the other models!

As part of the install, you have to modify the spring perches so that the bag will seat properly. Basically, you cut it shorter to give the bag more room to travel.

See that little tiny lip that sticks out? This catches a lip on the inside of the spring perch and keeps it from sliding all the way down the strut. This is basically what takes all the pressure from the spring and the weight of the front of the car.

First, after removing the front struts, I removed the spring, pulled off the sping perch, and cut it down to fit the bag mount.

Here is the (good) perch that has been cut. You can see that there is quite a gap between it and the bag mount.

There was still some gappage between the perch and the bottom of the bag (this is with the perch removed from the strut), so i took it down further, and further and further until, now, the spring perch does't catch the lip on the strut and it slides all the way to the bottom of the strut. So now the entire strut needs to be replaced :(

So I take the ruined perch (the one I cut too far) and place it on the bottom of the bag where it *would* have gone and guess what... it STILL is not short enough to make contact with the perch! It's hitting the bevel/chamfer in the middle of the bag.

The spring perch (black) should be contacting the bag mount (silver). This perch has been cut too short (it's now ruined and completely useless) and you can see that it STILL doesn't make contact.

So I look at the bag itself and it has a lip inside that looks like maybe it will catch the lip on the strut where the perch used to be and we won't even need the perch. So I put the bag on the strut, put the washer/nut on the top like it's supposed to be, flip the whole thing over and compress the shock.... All the way down until it very noticeably bottoms out -- you could put a house on top of this thing, and it wouldn't get any shorter. And guess what... the bottom of the bag is STILL a solid 1.5" shy of the lip that the perch catches on.

So now, I have my car up in the air with all 4 wheels off, suspension taken apart and bags that don't fit properly. I have ruined 1 strut already so I couldn't put the car back to being drivable if my life depended on it. It will cost me at least $100 to replace that strut. And even when I do, the bags don't fit anyway.

I am completely out of ideas! Please help!

Call if you need to, I'll be up ALL night the way things are going

Who's kit are you installing? I've installed a UAS kit and the bags looked kind of wrong until they were all in and the weight of the car was on them.

the bottom bag mount will center itself on the strut bracket. it does not need to go down all the way and over time will get lower. but instead of cutting the strut plate you might want to sand a little on the bag end plate. mine has a little gap but not much.
