Zoo. Do those led arrays you have in the map lights fit into the stock sockets? I got the smaller ones (not quite bright enough) and one of them is flickering now. You got the part number for Autolumination?
I don't think so... I found it easiest to access mine from the passenger seat. And if you turn the mirror face towards the passenger side what's "farthest away" now?:boxed::what:
I also have the bracket from Country Joy Crafts and InvisiCord on my ESCORT 8500. It works great. You have to play mirror adjustment/location to properly "push" on the Escort to keep to keep it from shaking but it is great and a good location for the detector. As any of you with radar detectors in town know....I do REALLY miss the "Mute" button that was on the smart cord only with the 8500 and not on the unit.....pain.
Really? the 8500 doesn't have a mute button on it? I always used my 8500 with a smart cord so I didn't notice that. Yes, the 9500i has a mute button (and a few more) right on the top side over the display. Push it once and it mutes the current alert. push it twice and ... it does something. push it a 3rd time and it blocks that particular alert at that GPS location (persistent).
The lack of that mute button on the 8500 unit (ticks me off big time) will be the "straw that broke the camels back" for me to get the 9500i. If I don't go Valentine....but I have had Escorts for about 20 years. Do the GPS functions of the 9500i really work as well as claimed? What else do you like over the 8500?
Yes on the GPS. Don't know how they do it but I've got it mounted on the mirror so it doesn't have much of a view upwards but it always grabs a GPS signal. I don't use the speed function since I verified my speedo with those stationary radars they leave around here and there :bigwink:. I also don't use the "speed trap" function. Basically it just gives you a notification when you're approaching a location (duh... like you're going to forget about the speed trap area while you're hanging on doing 100). I do use the signal block and *really* like that. For all those alerts that aren't that you drive by all the time you just hit the mute button 3 times and they're gone forever. I really like the voice feature also. You get an alert and about 1 second or less into the alert the voice anounces the band. Yea, it has different tones for each band like they always did but I always had to look anyway. Now it goes beep, beep, beep, "X band", beep, beep... (only anounces once for each alert). I can't remember but I think you might have a choice of a few voices. Naturally I picked the standard woman's voice. The buttons on top are lit. You can barely see the glow with it tucked up under the mirror like it is but sort of cool none the less. Using the mirror mount the buttons on the top sort of stick out half way from under the mirror so you have to sort of push your finger in between the unit and the mirror to push them. Not a problem since it gives easily on the spring steel mount. Only downside from the 8500 is that it is not offered with the blue LEDs. I think all the radar functionality/sensitivity is supposed to be the same. Oh and the unit is black! instead of silver.
Just pull the one heat shield out on each side and your good to go. It's a little bit of a pain in the arse in getting them situated and the lense cover popped back on correctly. It just takes a little patience. Go with the 44mm and they are definitely bright. http://autolumination.com/festoon.htm "36 led Array - Outfitted with 36 of the latest High-Flux 5mm Leds Designed especially for overhead lighting angled sockets & applications requiring a lot of light. Heh, I went out and looked at mine today. Actually I looked and looked and looked and I can't quite see well enough with my contacts to be absolutely sure but it looks like if you count wires from the passenger side I put the pink in the first one and the green in the second. I'm thinking the instructions must have said pink in the first one and green in the third one.
