Hey guys, a friend of mine broke both half shafts and decided to go with the 1000 hp shafts. When doing the install, we found that one of the tone rings in the original half shafts was missing and the other is not working... The guys at the dealership are telling us that our only option is to buy a new set of $hafts and use the tone rings in our 1000 hp shafts, but that means spending an additional 1,500 dollars... So my question is, what are our options, is there anyone that sell the tone rings separate from the half shafts?
There are a few options here Carlos. And yes, this is the unfortunate part of DDS 1000hp 1/2 shafts. You can call Cleveland pic a part and see if they have any 1/2 shafts. I believe the 5.7 tone rings will work on our cars, so that is another option (but you might want to verify with Cam or Hemi31 first). And no, you can not buy the tone ring individually. Good luck.
The cheapest way is to purchase a 5.7 halfshaft. Luckly they are only a little over a hundy each. Good luck Carlos.
Hey Ron..............sweaty........ have I told you yet tooooooooo..... FUCK-OFF!! TODAY?? I didn't think I had, hugs and kisses :friends:
Good luck with that. Chances are that any used sets that you find won't have the tone rings anyway and will cost more than just buying new 5.7 shafts. If the 5.7 tone rings work, don't waste any time looking and just buy the 5.7 shafts.
hahaha I saw that as well. Anytime Cam gives me the time of day, I do get hot and sweaty. haha Spell check owns Cam. :ronlove:
I bet Cleveland Pick-a-Part is already on to this and charges a premium for the R/T shafts as well. Let us know if you find a good deal.
I have both 6.1 and 5.7 stock shafts w/tone rings PM me if interested Dave Ft. Myers, Fl the rings are inter-changable
Hi Carlos, In July I purchased a set of 1000 HP halfshafts from GSM, their halfshafts come with the tonerings. I had 6,500 miles on them when they were changed out, and they are sitting idle in my storage shed with the tonerings. Maybe you might want to PM me.
