With the new CAI coming from Legmaker, a cast 90mmTB that he had a buddy selling, and a new tune from Johan, I guess I'll be staying naturally aspirated for at least another year!!! I'm hoping that with the above changes, I'll at least have another 5-10rwhp. And if I can get some slicks this spring, these mods should ensure I reach the mid 11's in Alabama weather!! I just wanna say a BIG THANKS to Chris for all his help. We've probably swapped about 20 PM's in the past two days, lol. Not that I'm surprised, but a total friggin pleasure to work with!!! I know the product will look insanely gorgeous, especially once it all comes together in my engine bay. I'm pretty damn stoked about the new hardware coming in..... My question, though, is this. What else do you guys recommend for an all-motor 426 to see a little more power?? My intake manifold is already extrude honed, my cam specs are 232/238 603/580 113LSA, and I have PPP StageII heads. Would an underdrive pulley be worth it?? Do you guys have any other advice?? :thanks:
Chase - I know its now power per say, but do you have a high stall torque converter? That will surely knock some time off at the track. What about gears?
Chase, along the same lines as Rick...what are you after, speed, ET, or dyno numbers? To better answer your question, give us a complete run down of your car...all mods. Oh, and CONGRATS on the new stuff coming, i'm certain Chris will do you proud, and your expectations will be exceeded.
Yes, I have a torque converter, 3200 PI. Along with the few things I listed above, I have Kooks LT's, hi-flo cats, and Magnaflow custom catback, DSS 1000hp axles, Quaife, 50lb. injectors, SHR tranny, and I think that's the main stuff. If I can think of anything else, I'll throw it up. I'm very happy with my build, and feel like I've made pretty smart decisions up to this point, and it's yielded me pretty strong results from my all-motor setup. There may not be much else, other than the pulley, that i can do. But I'm hoping you guys have some ideas!!! Thanks boys.
Chase, first I want to say thanks!!! It has been a pleasure dealing with you and the mulitple questions are not an issue at all!! I would rather have a customer that is well informed about a decision to drop their hard earned money with me, than just say its great and dissappoint! As for power...... is your intake going to be milled for the 90????? might be something to look into so the opening of the intake is the same as the tb. sounds like you are looking more fro track times, than bragging rights on a dyno. everything you listed should get you close to your goal, but i will tell you the biggest thing that will get you there.......PRACTICE!!!!! it may seem like it is easy to go fast....just wait for green and stomp the go pedal, but it takes a little practice to launch the car well and get the most out of it. all your good times will happen in the first 60'!!!
Well sounds like you have just about everything you need to get to around 11.3-11.5 N/A. Gears will help you even when you move on upwards to a power adder. Going beyond 11.3X N/A will require some weight reduction. I was able to get to about 11.30 without taking anything out of the car. I went to around 11.20 by going to skinnies up front. But by this time I had put in a roll bar and taken out the passenger and back seat. Getting my ET's down further was a combination of going to 3.92 gearing and paying particular attention to the amount of fuel I kept for each run and good ole luck in hooking.
Yes, my intake manifold is already milled to accept and match the 90mmTB. I thought of that ahead of time when I did my build. I know I seem fairly "uneducated" at times, lol. But I do think a lot of things through before I make a decision. And I'm hoping to get some of that PRACTICE this spring!!!
Very cool man!! Thank you for the advice!! And I know you know what you're talkin about, so I appreciate you chiming in!! My car will be faaaar from a drag strip whore. But I would love to be able to make a few 11.5 passes this year to say she can do it!! Continued success to you shattering more records!
I would talk to Erik about the gears,he said somethings that made sense at the time but I dont remember exactly what he said.Except he didnt think it was a good idea. Now you can swap to a LSD rear but you would have to ditch the DSS axles. For me that was a deal breaker.I really like the axles and they work Not to mention i spent to much money on them..
If you're looking for ET, best thing you could do at this point is get some Hoosiers and wheels for the rear. You can practice all you want to with street radials, and will be able to better your times...to a point...You want to be able to just mash and stick, get some slicks. On power increase...Are you dyno tuning or email tuning? I would suggest a highly qualified tuner on a load bearing dyno, especially with the new 90mm TB coming. You could also get your tuner to do a street tune and a track tune with race fuel...track tune would have a considerable increase in timing and yield more power. You could upgrade your heads with larger diameter valves, bronze guides, and Arrington roller tip rockers for better efficiency, higher RPM rev limit and significant power increase. Your cam is a very good and somewhat aggressive street cam, but not what i would call "All out"...some more power to be had there as well. UD pulley will just be icing. Chase, i must agree with you, you have made some very good decisions about your car, you should be one very proud owner. Good job boss!
WOW, sure sounds like to me... YOU already have tons of "GO FAST" parts! Very impressive listing I might add! And to get Chris's (Legmakers) intake You sure are a lucky person! Those are the BOMB!!! Hope you will post some pictures when you get it all installed!
If by "LSD" you mean Limited Slip Differential, I have a Quaife already..... Thanks man. Johan has been doing my tuning (he's a god) and he's already got me all adjusted for my new CAI and 90mmTB. I have the tune, just waiting for the goodies!!! I will note your above list of recommendations. I'm hoping a nice set of slicks will be coming in April . Again, Kyle, thanks for the recommendations! It's what I needed bro!!!!!
With this in mind you might want to consider JMatt's AFCO coilovers. Nice because with an extra 10 min. you can set them up for the track while you're putting on your slicks. and they're basically infinitely adjustable for everything else.
Except every Car I have driven it with Afcos make a serious amount of noise(Clunking). If those were in my car I would kill myself..lol And Chase I brought up the LSD because you can buy them with different gear ratios installed. But if you have the Million dollar Quaife i would hang on to that.
You're welcome Chase... Johan is the shit, not taking anything away from him at all. But every car responds differently, especially with the mods you are trying to dial in. I bet you could squeeze more power out with a qualified tuner on the rollers, then log on the street, then back on the rollers...Pass it by Johan, get his opinion. Don't forget the race fuel track tune.
Gotcha. Thanks Scott. Preciate ya lookin out for me!!! Word. I hear what you're sayin.......:huglove:
