Ok guys i have a small budget which 1 will help the most? I run at the track just now n then. I called gsm and there price for there 180 stat/fan mod is 225 installed. The volant cai is about 350. Both mods will kick me out of the nhra pure stock classes.

jim - to be totally honest with you, and i love gsm, but that fan mod is not your best choice. go with the cai and you can put in a 180 tstat for less than 15 bucks and do it yourself in 15 mins. VERY easy install on the tstat. if you are looking for fan mods for the track, cruise places like lxforums and you can find VERY cheap fan mods that work great for track side needs.

WTF, talk about highway robbery, go to Autozone and pick up a Valucraft 4128 (180F) or 4127 (176F) for $15.00 and DIY in under a half hour. Forget the fan mod, save for a tuner and it will take care of that for you as well.

Thanks CB BUT IM RETIRED AT MY AGE I NO MY LIMATATIONS LOL.
The injury is permanent and i can get around normal but cant stand in 1 place to much or bend so the 50 bucks that gsm wants just to do the stat sounds cheap. I was out there yesterday cleaning the engine bay and lasted 10 min back was hurtin and started to stiffing up. The VOLANT CAI install i think i could do lol.

Jim, changing you're T-Stat may be as strenuous if not less than the Volant depending on how she sits and and fits. Removing the stock airbox is easy as well. I've spent 50 bucks on sillier things though lol. My opinion is to do the CAI and the T-Stat and don't worry about the fan mod just yet. As GS said, the Diablo will take care of that. If you go to the track and only really do a handful of runs...as 25 cent fan mod works wonders as long as you don't run it too long and wear the battery down hehehe

Good idea stroke but hate to impose onto others with my problems. Im sure Steves busy with getting his ride ready 4 Phoenix if he doesnt go the Fontana that weekend with his rental space allready paid for. As for the GSM cai im not really into where theres and B Woody has there filter down into the fender well but thanks for giving me the chance to buy it at 80 buxs thats a steal.

I'll help you out. Actually its easier to do the T-Stat than install the Volant. Save your money for the tune.......buy me lunch and I will modify your stock box, or snag the GSM CAI that Stroke has and I will install it. I can meet you at GSM next Saturday.

Thanks a lot Steve but i really dont like the GSM or B WOODY cai because of where the filter is thats why i was thinking about the volant. Ill be a Irwindale jan 10 and i mite just keep the jeep stock because of the nhra rules for pure stock classes because they dont allow any mods at all. The only thing i mite do is the 180 stat and gsm said they charge me 50 buxs to do it so i mite just do that and i really appreicate all you guys trying to help me as i no you are really busy with your nitros set up.Thanks again all of you. I guess i envy all you you guys racing as i did in the 50-60-70s and in nov was the 1st time i raced since 1973 at the old Irwindale strip. At 65 im trying to stay young lol racing with you guys and to be honest im loving it. The wife just said dont make this racing a weekly thing laffin at me she said you old fart.

I have found the GSM T-stat/fan mod to be a very worthwhile, convenient mod. Yes, I realize you can "do it cheaper", but this is a very elegant solution.

Here is a guy selling the mod, including the stat, for $100.00. Brand new. I'd jump on it, and get some help installing it.

    Jim,
FWIW, I respect your decision however the GSM doesn't put the filter as far down (close to the pavement) as the BWoody does. Again just FYI.

I could always help you do it as well Jim. I need to redo mine in the GCSRT8 since the dealer switched mine out when they replaced the water pump a couple of months back. I've been slacking on reinstalling a 180 again.

Thanks Curtis, dam what a bunch of great guys in here . But i have decided to put it off for awhile because im going on a LONG trip and dont want anything done that may cause me any trouble incase i have a warrenty problem along the way. I no that some reps at chrysler will refuse any warrenty work if they can. All they need is a reason.
