coming back up to jersey from my parents house in va yesterday me and a c6 starting doing a little cat and mouse. next thing i know im doing 140 or so and somebody doing about 50 pulls into my lane and i have no room to switch lanes. man i had that brake pedal to the floor, i was thinking "that vette's gonna rear end me" but he got over in time. long story short, slowed down with plenty of room to spare and all i could think was "thank God for the brakes this thing comes with"
:poop:

That would be correct.

I can't tell you how many times I needed my big brakes to get me out of a jam...

having good brakes is something most people take for granted until it saves their behinds

been there and done that markus!!! yep, one of the most often overlooked aspects of the performance of these cars is the brakes...... even with the pq pads in them....... hehehehehe

Damit Chris! I see this thread, saw a glint of opportunity to bust YOUR chops, and sht! You already qualified yourself and the pq's.

You're getting good, young Jedi!

Problem is, most users will never spend the money to upgrade their brakes after adding larger rims and tires or power adders to their rides...

Glad Chrysler was kind enough to think of safety first when building the SRT line. :salut::headspin::love:

one must know their enemy as well as they know themselves........ hehehehehe

excellent point ron. often i see people put cars together with tons of power, but seem to fail to see the importance of actually stopping the car as well!!!!

okay i gotta ask, whats so bad about the pq's? i have a set of them in the rear, still have the factory pads in the fronts, havent noticed a decline in stopping power, all i know is that after about a week, the front wheels are black and the back wheels are clean as the day i washed them

You will not see any difference in stopping power with ONLY the rear brakes changed.

Once you put them on the front (which is 85% of your stopping force), you will notice a difference.

this was a "freindly" debate over on the old district...... the pq's do not have quite the bite as the stock pads, but are much better on dust. this is a trade off you must accept. in your case, seeing as much of the stopping power takes place by the front brakes, having the pq's only in the rear will not show any significant differences in stopping power, imo. now, once bud chimes in, he will tell you you are half a man and that you need to take the srt off the car and switch it to just r/t, and that real men use the "man brakes" that come stock and that the black dust is good and will put hair on your chest...... hahahahahahaha

hah, i just got them cuz money was tight at the time so BRING IT!

If I may offer a scientific hypothesis... Rick and I both have the OEM pads, and we both have some hair on our chests... therefore OEM brake pads are indeed correlated to chest hair.

perhaps slightly used may be the way to go. its not time to change my fronts yet though so im not too worried about it

Get with Scott over at GS Motorsports. He actually carries a great ceramic pad that supposedly does not take away from stopping power, yet keeps the dust to a minimum.

Scott also mentioned to me that he has/or throws away lots of OEM pads when they replace with the ceramic ones....may be worth a call!!!

Good point there Ricky...

thanks guys, ill look into that!
"beans" to you

No need to chime in now Chris....you've already spoken my mind! Did I ever tell YOU how much better YOUR car would look debadged?? LOL

hahahahaha actually already is......:harhar:
