Now I'm throwing a P2181 code?!?!??!????!! YES. My highspeed fans are on (brand new fan assembly). YES. I have a new Jet 180* tstat & gasket. YES. I thoroughly burped the cooling system. This is such bullshit, I'm bored, pissed, and BEYOND aggrivated with all this. WTF else could it be?????!!!!? I'm gonna buy a higher pressure resevoir cap to replace the stock one. But after that, I'm out of options as to what it could be. And I don't think it's the water pump, because when I drove without the tstat, I had constant flow. Nor do I have any funky noises. Does anyone know what a fuggin P2181 code relates to???? It says "Cooling System Performance" on my Predator......

    When it rains, it pours.

Sorry to hear that you haven't quite got it down. Is it still overheating?

check the temperature sensor, thermostat and water pump. Could be one or a combination. Most likely for you it could be the temp sensor.

If you're sure the fans, rad cap, thermostat and water pump are working well then it sounds like the ECT sensor isn't working right.

Can you swap the Jeep temp sensor into the Charger to check if that's the problem? Anyone close to you with a star tool that could check the sensor output?

I'm gonna replace the rad cap first. Drive it a little Sunday, and see what happens.....

Thanks Adam, I don't know anyone with a Starscan. I could go to the dealer.....:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

Does anyone know what that code is referring to, though (P2181)???

    Well? is it overheating?

Looking around it seems this could even have something to do with the ambient temperature sensor. Did you do the key dance? were there other codes?

I did a little research and found that other people have had this issue when there is extreme outside air temp changes.

    Just a thought.

Is your car still overheating? Makes me wonder if maybe your temp sensor wasn't the culprit from the start....

    No other codes whatsoever......

YES. My car is still physically overheating!! Spraying shit everywhere and all. I wouldn't start this thread if it wasn't, lol. It wasn't the culprit from the start, because my HS fans weren't working. But it may have been part of it. But the car is still ACTUALLY overheating. My fucked up and messy engine bay says so, lol. So it's not just a misread sensor.....

Chase what exactly is happening now, are you over heating? Is the overflow filling up and overflowing?

Second get a Stant radiator cap with the red lever and junk that POS OEM.

This is whay P2181 means: cooling system performance. check the temperature sensor, thermostat and water pump. Could be one or a combination.

Start with the cheapest parts first, temp sensor and radiator cap.

Call me if you want bro.

Yup, that's it. try a local auto part store, they should have it also.

Change sensor, take the thermo out, fill system, drive, let cool, refill system, drive, refill as needed, let cool, install thermo, refill system, start motor, crack 1/4" vent plug, when you get fluid coming out, cap it. Enjoy!

Ok sounds like the temp sensor is crapping out and not controlling the fans correctly, this may be why the other fans crapped out due to too much on/off due to sensor malfunction and then the high speed on them just totally failed. If the sensor is failing and sending mixed signals to the controller of the fans that constant on/off will kill the fans very quickly.
