I was at Alberic Colon on Kennedy Ave. today (Puerto Rico) trying to stay out of trouble (and test drive SRT's) and as I was leaving, and chuckling about the face of frustration the salesman had, I spied a light blue crossfire in the corner. Well, I went over to take a look and it's a SRT! I've always loved the look of the Crossfire. It turned out to be a 2006 (said not to exist in the US of A) Do they exist? Anyway. I left but can't stop thinking about it. The sales supervisor said its new but after 2 years in the sun the rubber is far from new. I plan on going back next weekend for a better look and possible negotiations. So I need opinions to assist me as I draw up my plan of action. I have no idea what they may ask for it, or what may be a fair price. What would you be willing to pay. (I will make an insulting offer to begin for sure)
They must be making time at the track or...just making time. I really am considering making an offer on it. As I was on my way out, I only gave it a glance. No dings, dirty dirty dirty, rubber parts faded, auto, but new and a 2006. I never considered one before because they cost more in Puerto Rico than the SRT8's. I need to sneak back and get the VIN so we can verify just what I've found.
We are all in carlisle at the chrysler show. There are at least 2 known 2006 crossfires in the usa. I paid over 30,000 for my roadster last year but the price has dropped quite a bit. If it comes with the warranty I would offer low 20's.and go from there. Really depends on what they are going for in your area and how rare they are.
so what are the total numbers on the 06? Any differences between the years that kept it from being a widely sold US car? The 6 is the only one of the SRT brand I have not driven/riden in... I must say they give me a bit of a chubby.
They made 12 or 13 of them, total in 2006. They were marketing/promotion vehicles not made to go to the lot. There is no difference in most, but a few of the UK models had the modern SRT badge on them. NICE FIND!
Its not an SRT but maybe it will give some idea of discounting. In late 2007, my wife bought a new, never titled 2005 Crossfire Limited (it had 115 miles on it) for $20,000. Sticker on the car was $37,000+ It came with the full 7 year, 70,000 mile warranty that 2005 models had. That was discounted 46% off of the sticker price. I would think that at a minimum, you should be able to get that % off of the sticker. I am guessing that they may go to 50% of sticker price, which is probably low to mid $20's.
I would guess there are less than 12 SRT6's of any year on the Island. The sales supervisor said that while it was an 06 it took a long time to arrive from Germany. Clearly trying to suggest it hasn't been in the sun as long as i suspect. The only time I saw a new one advertised here it was in the $65,000.00 range. Low 20's may be impossible. The import taxes here were at least $10,000.00. But I am betting they just want to be rid of it. If I can get it for 30 to $35,000.00 I'll go for it. The little woman has always liked the Criss-Cross as she refers to them. (She has no idea of its SRT thrust) Since she's on board, if the price can be agreed to, it's a done deal. I may just go out again on monday to take a closer look.
I'm taking my camera with me and I'll post a few picks of it. Don't hold me to monday though. But this week for sure.
It's got history on CARFAX so if you want to know what it is it will cost your $24.99 but at least it is a 2006 SRT-6 Crossfire
If you look on the driver side door when you open the door, you can see the build date. Not on the door jam, but the actual door. Most 2005's where built 7/04. If it is a 2006, I bet the date would be 7/05 or later. The date is right below the "Assembled in Germany". From the VIN this was the 68,807th Crossfire made, my personal car was #37,659 built on 7/04. I would say yours is a 2006 for sure!Good luck~
It is an 06 after all and they want $40,000.00. It has 60 miles on it and the sales supervisor says those miles were driving to be displayed. It has the badges on the front fenders and when I opened the hood you know what I saw. Preeeeety. I'm taking the misses to drive it this weekend, maybe sooner, maybe tomorrow. Dang, I don't think I'm sleeping tonight...again! I'll be taking the checkbook for sure. Now the question is, do I keep it a virgin because of its rarity or mod it anyway.
I'm tired and grumpy, haven't slept in a week. I have SRT6 sickness. Took it for a drive today. Not what I expected at all. Drives like a sports car! No luxury floating cruise ship syndrome. All business. Tight, slightly stiff steering wheel. Firm, firm, more than SRT8 firm ride. Louder than SRT8 exhaust (no kidding) No vision out the back at all. Drives like a refined go-cart. Totally different. Other generation, all business. A real love it or leave it personality. My wife abhors it. I got to have it. Once in a lifetime opportunity. How much? Ah, there's the rub. I'll fill you in Sunday.
