Many of you folks have seen the threads I put out about the dissapointing performance of my 06 Mag SRT. I have had several comments on what to do for it and it just seems like nothing really worked. A couple weeks ago took it on some back roads and kept opening 'er up and after about a dozen or so WOT take offs the car went into limp mode ~ scared the heck outta me!!! Coasted into a driveway, started it back up; drove ok! I had removed fuse #11 to see if this reset anything and added some fuel injector cleaner. Still seem pretty luggish... Anyhow, yesterday I had it out and WOW, have NO IDEA why, but it finally seems to be waking up for some reason. I had just changed the oil @ 9,000 miles, drove around some and then got on it a few times and it NOW seems to be running MUCH BETTER????? I originally thought trying to compare this to some of my older cars that really ran GREAT was the reason for my dissapointment. Had over 300 cars in my life and some pretty awesome ones at that. Had 68 Z/28 (Man, I miss THAT CAR), SS Chevelles, SS Novas, 69 Corvette Stingray 427/435HP, v8 Vegas, v8 Monza, 66 Impala SS, McLaren Turbo Gran Prix, 80 Malibu Pro Street & many, many more! AND... my 05 Magnum R/T seems to have less lag between shifts! Finally MY SRT is making me much more happy! The ONLY thing I can really think of is that I manually shifted between gears.... don't know IF this helped wake it up! Another theory I have been given is the lower mileage of my SRT ~ It NOW has almost 9,100 miles!!!
I remember my SRT8 seeming like it gained 50 horses when it hit a certain mileage...cant remember the number though...similiar tales have been posted here and other forums since the SRT8s came to life...
wow!! 9100!!! dont keep it caged up get out and drive it more!!! i enjoyed every mile of my 111K SRT's life and were just getting started!!
Welcome to the sickness...glad she's finally living up to expectations. The list of cars you've owned is impressive, just remember when comparing, today's vehicles are much heavier, and very computerized...the only way you will get the most out of it, is to drive it like you stole it.
