i am so very sorry to hear this sad news rick! if he was a friend of yours, i have not doubt of his character. prayers go to his family and friends!
Thanks fellas! I just got back from Danny's Bar & Grill in Coronado. About 40-50 folks showed up and we had a really good time. There are about 10 pictures of Erik around the bar from the last 10 years of hanging out there. There's also a great memorial of all the SEALs who have died in combat back behind the bar. Two of which have won the Congressional Medal Of Honor since 9/11. I mentioned in an earlier post how there is a cool plaque of us in Afghanistan with us and an American flag and a sign that say's "Danny's or bust" in the bar. Well, some of my SEAL brothers recreated a mock Danny's bar in Iraq on one of our bases. I saw pictures of it....freaking amazing! My brothers built an "exact" replica of the bar we west coasters hang out at all the time. Including murals, exact bar stools, signs, dimensions, etc! I can't wait to go back to Iraq to throw down a few pints at this mock bar if I get the chance! We had an incredible time telling "Shelly" stories (Erik Shellenberger) and just celebrating this studs life!
