WASHINGTON -- The Environmental Protection Agency today denied a waiver that would have allowed California and at least a dozen other states to impose their own stricter vehicle tailpipe emissions standards under the Clean Air Act.

Isnt CA already doing just that...and for years now?

 

Isn't the whole CARB legal part of that crap. I had a guy checkin out the underhood goodies of the GC at a car show a couple of weeks back. He was admiring the BWoody intake and says to me...."Is that CARB legal"? I just started laughing.

 

Yea, carb is for aftermarket parts, not original equiptment and yea, they've been doing it since the 80s. This law thing was for new production cars ... althought I agree, haven't they already been doing that? I mean, up till not that long ago some cars weren't 50 state legal. In fact, didn't Mercedes or VW have a diesel just a year or two ago they could sell in the states everywhere but Cal?? Regardless, I'm glad the epa shut the door on this, all it would have done is given Cal more power in this area to run amuck!!

 

WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO....no overly harsh emissions laws for me!

 

For now ... but it's comin buddy, it's coming! Did you see the law Bush just passed? Soon none of us will be driving v-8s anymore. :cry2:

 

the hell i wont...they will have to build prisons for the muscle car guys cause we will all be in jail hahaha

I agree stevo, I'm with you full force buddy but ... it won't matter. I've got 2 400+ hp cars in my garage but one day I won't be able to drive either of them. Kinda reminds me of the song "Red Barchetta" by Rush (listen to the lyrics). What's gonna happen is soon you won't be able to buy high performance muscle or sports cars new (not taking into consideration hybrids). 5, maybe 8 years. Then shortly after that, or possibly during, gas prices will really shoot up to, say $8-10 a gallon or more, and that will weed out all the other "hobbiest" out there with their collector muscle/sports cars over the following years. Within 20 years, maybe 15, cars like ours will be gone. :cry2:

We'll just get an extra job to pay for the gas!
