Just wondering if anyone else has experienced problems after installing E3 spark plugs. I have an 06 MSRT and has been running like a scalded...well no problem running that is for sure...installed E3's yesterday and what the...4 or 5 tries to get it started...we thought that the computer would need to "learn" the plug, so took the long way home so i could wot it a couple of times...not good...kicks down and engine shut off...let off the go peddle and engine comes back to life...tried this 3 or 4 times...same result...life was so much easier when we didn't have to contend with computers and all...a little help for this old rodder would be much appreciated... emailed E3 this morning to see if they have any knowledge of this...picked them up through Summit so I may email them also... thanks for the help...
What is the rating on these E3"s (cold or hot)? What gap did you use? Did you check to see if the coil packs are plugged in? Did you accidentally reverse a coil pack or two?
no gapping on these due to the design...and the body and thread lengths are the same...used exactly what was called out in spec on Summits site...
I was told to stay away from these because our Hemi's didn't "like" them... but that was from a dealer... so take it for what it is worth.
blow out? Did you check for misfire codes? Do you have a scanner that will display the misfire pids? I think the computer knows everything about the plug that it's going to learn when you turn the key. Basically, is it firing or not?
just checked during lunch and there are no codes at all...i am going to pull these and put plats in tonight...thanks for all the help...
added note...going over to my buddy's after work to swap these back out...he said that he did some checking online for problems with these plugs if any...turns out that a lot of other makes are having various problems with these make and pulling them and the problems are going away...putting NGKR Platinums back in... just a heads up for all on the forum...rockman
Those, or copper if you have to use something other than stock. In my opinion all the jee-whiz 3rd part stuff is almost invariably snake oil and sometimes just junk. I mean, it's not like the major manufacturers don't have guys who really know what they're doing sitting around trying all this stuff to get an edge on the other major manufacturers. Split-fire, diamond-fire, kryptonite, you name it. Chances of some startup company making a major breakthrough before the big players is almost nil. Then in order to market it they have to charge double -- otherwise people wouldn't believe it's a major breakthrough using exotic new technology... All those endorsements on amazon and elsewhere are claiming 25% increases in gas mileage... by simply swapping new plugs for these. Lol, one guy says he has a blown application and it really didn't make much difference in power, or mileage under normal driving but he was having a problem running rich at higher rpms and it fixed that...
i am not one for going in for this kind of stuff normally...one of the episodes on horsepower they did a dyno and swapped out the stock plugs for these and the dyno showed an 8 horse gain...so i fell for it...my bad...but Summit has a return policy if not satisfied so they are getting these things back...and a lot of motor heads will know about these things...funny, i emailed the company at 0530 this morning and it is after 1400 and they have still not responded...with Summit w minutes after i submitted the email to them i got an incident response...lesson learned by an old fart...
