So I'm getting the low profile e-cutouts when/if the G.B. ever happens. I wanted to do something different as far as the open/close switch goes. Any ideas? I've seen the mini rocker switch, I looked at maybe the push/pull switch but I'm really not crazy about either. Also I would like to see any pics of a switch mounded by the cupholders ( I have an '06). Would any like to help?

Sorry I don't have a pic, but my switch is located on the left side of the center console. I rest my arm and the switch is right where my thumb is, perfect spot, and nobody can really see it. The console has a cavity right there and the wires drop down ummmmmm somewhere near there..........If you want a pix I'll get one.

I didn't want to perminently alter or cut the interior so I made this switch plate. It resides between the driver's seat and the door and attaches to the screw under the threshold. All wiring easily routed under the sills going both ways. It's convienient and cant be seen when the door is closed.

Thats a good idea yes, it will work. There is a plastic knock-out plug in the floor near that switch. Idrilled that to pass my wires out.

Do I have to take the seat out? Any pics of the plug you're referring to? Does anyone have any insight on how to wire the switch to work the coutouts correctly?

No need to remove the seat. Lift the carpet at the seperation just under the front corner of the seat. The first of 2 plugs is about 8" back towards the console. If you can get to the pedal switch wiring you can remove it and attach the connector that comes with the cutouts. The wiring is simple. you have 1 to bat., 1to ground, 1 to switch connector and 2 to cutouts. The cut out wires are the only that go through the plug. a 3/8" hole is enough followed by some silicone to seal. you can get 12v by removing the threshold/kick plate and tapping a wire running behind the kick plate.

Thanks for the detail I'll take a look this weekend. I'm sure finding a power source wont be difficult, sounds pretty simple really. I hope wring to the switch is as easy as you say. Maybe there's something service manual. Thanks!
