He's headed to HHP now (in Delaware) and then back in my area and off to Ohio for the LX Nats...then California.
Hey Steve Scott at GSM dyno tuned my car about 3 months ago, so would this tune be significanly different, better? Or whats the main difference I guess?
YA, after spending the money on the S/C I might have to really think about this one! I have a couple more weeks. izza:
For those of you that have never seen the CMR and data logging software, trust me if you paid less than $200 you didnt get a data logged CMR tune! The data logging is like a bunch of little dials on the CMR screen and it shows long term and short term fuel curves and timing events. It shows how much timing your engine has and how much is being pulled out. Also your throttle to pedal reaction is in the CMR. This little feature is like "tightening" up the old throttle pedal cable. All the items and features you CANNOT get to with a handheld. Also without loading the vehicle on the street or with an eddie current dyno you have no clue how it reacts under load. $475 is a deal for a TOTAL DATA LOGGING CMR TUNE, and 2 hours on a data logging eddie current dyno for 200 is a deal. You guys pay $75.00 for some one to do three pulls that DOES NOTHING!!! Tuning your car on a dyno with a hand held Diablo is like having sex by yourself! It really doesnt get the job done...lol!!!

The dates are as follows. The dyno will be available for the entire week of June 17th through June 20th. Harmanmotive is open from 9:00am to 7:00pm Put the date and time you want next to your name. Pricing: $475 for tune Additional Tunes: $150.00 Choice of N.A. pump gas, race fuel and nitrous tunes for all combinations. Contact me via PM to schedule any forced induction tuning or any special tuning desired for your combination such as 392/426 combinations. Highly modified cars that require more than the normal tuning time may incur additional tuning fees of $185.00/hour and are on a job by job basis but as I have heard, Steve is a very fair so the cost will be reasonable. Make sure if you want any modifications made between now and then you have them done to optimize your tuning visit. Harmanmotive may be able to squeeze you in for some installs a day or so prior to tuning. Make sure you arrive with you car fueled in the state that you want it tuned. Harman carries 100 octane VP which sells at 8.50 per gallon. A Street Tune for driveability is highly recommended with use of pump gas. Make sure if you want an optional 100+ octane tune you run your tank under a 1/4 tank or less when you arrive. When the fuel light comes on typically you still have 3 gallons. As stated above DynoSteve is charging $475 for a street tune, Another words the tune is performed by DATA LOGGING ON THE STREET....which in California is pretty hard to get away with. Harman is renting out his dyno facility for $200 per car and that covers 2 hours and should be ample time. Should it run over a bit we will be ok. Please PM me to schedule and make sure you list the vehicle and the modifications along with any other information as far as how it may be running. Steve will tune all cars that make it in for tuning. Harman will keep the shop open 9:00am to 7:00pm. All transactions for DynoSteve should be in cash and any form of payment to Harmanmotive is acceptable. THE LIST 1. sgtstanko - June17th@9:00am 2. QWKSRT 3. NetNathan 4. DiegoChrysler 5. Steve, If we're currently running a Predator 91 CAI tune with some tweaks, do we need to bring our Predator so that DynoSteve can return the car to stock tune before commencing with CMR tune? Also, is the CMR tune permanent? Meaning, that if the dealer accidentally flashes the PCM will my $675 tune be history! Will we get a back-up file that can be reloaded in case I lose my CMR tune? Thanks, Maarten
Maarten The Predator 91 CAI tune can only be modified or tweaked so much. It is no where as good or expandable as a CMR tune. There are other features in the CMR that are not accessible by the handheld......as an example there is a delay between the accelerator pedal position and the actual throttle blade and the reaction of the throttle blade. I compare it to tightening the "throttle cable". Also the "knock sensor" sensitivity is only accessible through the CMR. If you ever see all the windows accessible through the CMR it would boggle your mind!! Yes you will need to bring the handheld with you. I have to assume and will ask but the custom tune remains in your handheld unless you erase it through the handheld prompts. I also know that the tune can be downloaded or copied to a laptop. Steve
Yes. It helps to think of it this way. The Predator is a tool to download/upload tune files to/from the car. The Predator can get tunes from a PC and store tune files on a PC with the optional cable (and power supply -- you can do it without a power supply by plugging the Predator into the car and a laptop at the same time). The Predator has the capability to modify a limited set of parameters in a tune file. The Predator comes packaged with some tune files already loaded on it. The packaged tune files are relatively generic tunes done by DiabloSport (accessed in the Performance Tune section of the Predator menu). CMR is a PC, licensed, tuning software package that generates tune files to be used with a predator. The CMR software is capable of modifying an extensive set of parameters in a tune file. Certainly the CMR software is capable of generating any of the tune files packaged with the Predator (and most likely did). Custom tune files (not the packaged ones) are accessed in the Custom Tunes section of the Predator menu (the custom tune file(s) would have been previously loaded to the Predator from a PC). When you load a custom tune file (or any tune file) from the Predator to the car it loads a copy. The tune file will remain on the Predator. IF you reset the Predator by either updating to a different CROM version or by restoring the Original Tune to the car the tune files in the Custom Tune section will be deleted/wiped. If you have a custom tune you should always keep a backup copy somewhere off the predator so it can be reloaded back onto the Predator. Saving your Original Backup is a good idea too.
You can return your PCM to stock cal in case of dealer visits but you will need to bring your Predator to the session. Steve keeps his tunes and they can be emailed to you as a backup. I tried to backup my CMR tune to my PC and it told me that only the authorized CMR dealer can do so. I'm sure dynosteve can answer any more questions about it to help you decide. PM him here as I know he checks in regularly.
THANKS GUYS FOR ALL THE INSIGHT. STEVE, IF YOU COULD LOCK ME IN FOR FRIDAY JUNE 20, 11AM I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THANKS AGAIN, MAARTEN
I'd want to be penciled in right after you Steve, but I can't get out of work right now. A lot going on as I mentioned on the red site. That and I don't have all my stripes yet lol. Only been at the new gig for a lil over two months and I'm not gonna miss a day unless I can't get outta bed.
Are we the only people that DynoSteve is coming out to see? I mean is he just going to hang out near the dyno at Harmanmotive for 4 days?
