OK guys and gals....I know many of you have heard and some have been waiting for some time for us to release our SRT4 Predator. We have begun Beta testing in house on the dyno last week. We are in the process of tuning a Yellow 03 Neon SRT4 as I type this. My question to you all is, what do you have done to your car? We seem to have a feeling that there are not too many (if any at all) bone stock SRT4s out there....so, tell us what the most popular mods are. The car we have here has a dump on the downpipe, and is tee'd off to make 17 psi. Besides the CAI, the rest is stock. We're trying to gauge how to set up the canned tunes that we will be offering. Any input here is greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike
i would say the most common mods will probably be CAI, catback, catless DP, things like that. another common one would be upgraded WGA, but there are many different ones people use, stage II, AGP, Kinetic, Forge, etc. on my car personally, i have a K&N CAI, INJEN Catback for my 'power' mods. i will be running my forge WGA as soon as i have something that can clear the code, making the car run in limp mode. but as long as i can do a end user custom tune, as long as i have some 'base' tune to start with (91-93 octane canned tune) i can adjust to whatever mods i throw at the car.
here are my engine mods to give an idea K&N SRI Stock Turbo S2 WGA Upper/Lower HP Turbo XS RFL BOV Ported Throttle Body Ported Intake manifold NGK 4306s 682cc injectors 3in Turbo back Exhaust 180’ Thermostat Bwoody Motor mount Walbro 255L Fuel Pump Mopar fuel filter ACT Clutch/ Flywheel 2004 SRT half shafts DCR oil mod Check valve
the "usual" upgrade path consists of wga/mbc/intake/exhaust/s1. after that people go in various paths depending on what they're looking for. many people will upgrade the fuel soon after (750cc's/return line/fpr/pump/controller), or possibly do a throttle body or a fmic or something along those lines. while it's very true that it's rather difficult to find a stock nsrt, most people don't actually heavily mod. what i mentioned above is usually what most people end up doing. when they do more, it's usually big turbo or more of the major mods.
Here are my mods to give you an idea. Its still stock turbo with no ported parts. My car engine/performance wise as far as mods is the following (some are not power mods at all, I just have everything on a basic list to keep track of my mods): Stage 1 Exhaust Depot Beast Intercooler JMB Upper Pressure Pipe JMB Block Off Plate HKS SSQV Blow Off Valve AGP Billet Wastegate Motor Mount Inserts Tranny Mount Inserts CTI 2.5" Hotside Pipe Needswing V5 3" Downpipe Prothane Shifter Bushings Walbro 255 Fuel Pump Energy Suspension Shifter Base Bushings K&N Cold Air Intake (Used as SRI) w/upgraded elbow Fuel Pump Rewire BWoody Check Valve Bwoody Oil Catch Can 180 Degree Modified T-Stat DCR Oil Modifier Bwoody Coil Pack Heatshield SRT/H Fan Mod Custom Turbo "I WIN" Valve Cover Darksyde Intake Manifold MPx Oil Cap JMB Transmission Cover Showparts Injector Cover Apexi SAFC I MSD Tach Driver

Why not just flash the stage kits as base tunes. Thats what agp is doing with the SCT. I hear stage 3 pcms are working real well with big turbo kits.
Mopar cai, forged bov, s2wga, mopar cat-less dp, borla cat-back, energy suspension motor mount inserts, ultimate racing intercooler pipes-all 3, walbro 255lph pump, I think that's it as of right now lol Gettin her dyno'd on friday. Most of the srt's around here....illinois...have big agp turbos and are pushing. 400+hp at the wheels. Just my input lol....
I know you guys are familiar with the CAN C Bus set-up with the SRT-8's are you guys planning any Caliber SRT-4 programmers soon?
yeah flashing like a sct software and being able to email the tunes would work the best like said previously too many people run different mods and every car is a lil bit different when it comes to mods. my mods are act 6puck sprung clutch agp standard bfmic (nonrace) agp 50trim kit standard 63a/r agp returnline kit coolingmist standard trunkmount kit (water/meth injection) safcII maddog 58% sts Aem uego wideband mpx 62mm throttle body with spacer boomba fuel rail walbro 255 stg2 inj stg1 pcm dcr oil modifier ported intake manifold agp cold side pipe with hks bov autometer 30/30 boost gauge greddy turbo timer ngk 4306 spark plugs gapped at .032 borla exhuast needswing 3" catless downpipe with electric cutout ptp check valve cryo treated tob fork HONDATA intake manifold gasket and of course can't forget about the 180 tstat
Good feedback guys, thanks. I'll keep you guys updated with tune results in the DiabloSport Q&A section here. Thanks Mike
We did a full tune on a stock 05 yesterday, picked up real good power, and had no problem upping the boost with the tune, pretty slick stuff. Car picked up about 30 rwhp from the added boost and tuning plus a butt-load of torque down low. Owner declared it to be a whole new car when he picked it up... I'll try to get a dyno sheet posted up here later. Thanks Mike
My entire mod list (performance and otherwise) is located here >> http://snailmotorsports.com/index.php?page=mods-mike The key things that would be important in tuning non-stock cars is the ability to scale for larger injectors, and non-stock fuel pressure (rising rate or whatever). Are the tunes going to be user configurable or will you have to have a tuner write your map for you?
Injectors will likely need a custom tune, as it is tough to properly scale for all the different injector options without access to the injector tables, but we'll make it so you have plenty of adjustment. Thanks
i think what he is asking is if there is the rough conversion for the correction like some of the piggybacks, where you enter your stock injector size and your bigger injector size. something like 570cc=750cc it would be rough either way, but instead of it adding the normal duty cycle, it would scale it down so the 750cc would act like the 570cc. and DANG.. the 05 got that much RWHP gain.. must be one badass srt4 :thongue2: no, but seriously 30whp is a very nice gain.. what were the mod to the 05? stock?
