I am currently running the 16a I think. is there any other flashes I should try? Also I keep getting check engine lights for ho2 heater control , Idle air controler, brake switch fuse. Any one else getting these
What Rick and I have found is that 18 is a great tune. ZERO issues with it. Firmer shifts than previous versions (from what I've gathered, including #20), and eliminated my error code that I was getting with 17 (a P0300 code: engine misfire).
Since I started out with r20 can I go to r18? I thought I read something about the calid and you can't go back past the original version that you started with? Anything to that? I would suppose if you returned to stock and "unmarried" the predator you'd be starting from scratch anyway right?
I believe the calid is fixed first time you hook the Predator to your car (and this prevents moving tunes between cars). This locks the Predator to your car. What crom file you are running does not affect the calid. Then you can go back and forth. Just remember to reload your original backup FIRST to your PCM. Then you can go to pc and load any crom to the Predator then back to the car to connect to the PCM with the new crom. Not restoring your original backup is what can really screw people up.... if they have a loaded tune under a different crom, then they update the predator (without restoring the original backup) and when they hook back up to the PCM there will be problems with the Predator recognizing the tune from a different crom. I also feel you should upload your orginal backup to your pc for protection....This may be required anyway and it should be. If you destroy your predator you will still have your original backup on your PC.
I am fairly sure what I said is correct. I have also proposed the question to DiabloPSort froum. I am sure you know where that is....lol
holy crap curtis...... and i thought i was up early this morning!!!!! hahahahaah i will be in cali in a couple of weeks for the spring fling!!!!! woo-hoo...... now, back to your regularly scheduled "adult time" activities.....
thanks for the clarification......... most guys at the gym are making up for other "issues".....hahahahahahha
Got it. Thanks Curtis! I think... 'cause now it'll probably take me another year trying and tweaking all the possible combinations
Diablosport forum Q&A ************************************************************************************** My first post: There are a few answers required here... 1. Should you always backup your original backup to the pc? 2. And is this original backup on the pc is always good regardless of crom? 3. Does the Predator keep the original backup even during upgrading the crom? 4. Once you have an original backup is that always good or should it always be the one uploaded before any crom update or back-date. 5. Lets say you get the Predator with crom r18 installed and that is used the first time you connect the Predator to the PCM. Then you want to go to crom r16a. Can this be done by first restoring your original backup and then back-dating the Predator to r16a and then going back to the car. 6. This swapping backward and forward of the crom file has no effect on the CalID... (correct?). The CalID is set to lock the Predator to the PCM only. To keep people from swapping tunes....among other reasons...maybe. Diablosport answer: 1. Not necessary. 2. No. Ex. Backup from 8r18 no good after cal update on 8r20, since calid changes. 3. No, that is why it MUST be restored before updating tool. 4. Must always be restored before updating, no exceptions. 5. Yes, but why? 6. No, swapping croms may lead to needing a cal update, in which case the calid will change. Tunes are locked by VIN, as many cars share the same calid. My Response: Thanks a lot for your answers. In response to #5. Several users of the Predator (that I am following in the different SRT8 forums) are finding that certain older revisions are working better than later ones. I guess that they don't like the changes. For instance in one revision (I think r17 or r18) you increased the "tip-in" speed (throttle by wire response time from a stop). Then you took it out in the next revision (Why?). Some of them liked the faster "tip-in" speed. DiabloSport candid response...lmao: Tip in throttle settings have not been changed since they were first added in like 8r16.... I swear its a giant placebo effect. I could rename 8r20 to 8r21 and put it on the web, and you'd see all kinds of people saying it does this, or doesn't do that, even if we changed nothing but the title....lol. *************************************************************************************** Now you have it.... Here to help and not to hinder....
