They said, without scanning it, that according to the maintanance history, there is some updates that need to be downloaded to the computer. My question is this: 1) did the update I performed when prompted to via the diablo provide these updates upon intalling the tune and 2) if not, will I need to return it to stock tune, get the dealer uploads and then back to diablo tune or will it be fine to leave the tune in it while they update. The only other thing I wonder is : are the "updates" they recommend nessecary? Anybody know what the updates may be. It's an 07, Thanks!
First you will need to return your Jeep back to the stock tune otherwise you could face possibly being flagged for no warranty work since you have tuned your Jeep. You need to put it back to stock a few days before you go in for service to allow the adaptives to reset (Never once metion you have a Diablo and play dumb if they ask if you have tuned the Jeep or played with the OBDII port) The updates for the 2007 are for some ABS stuff and for the transfer case THUD you get at 20 go ahead and let them do all the updates as they are required to do so if the Jeep is in.
Ask the dealer for the list. Then you can decide if you want any of them and go from there. There may be important TSBs or they might be things like "activating sun roof motor causes static on the radio"
Start doing it you never know if they will hook up the Star Scan to check out their work or look for updates, if they do it will override your tune and for one they will know you have messed with the PCM and two you will have to reload your tune. Some dealerships are mod friendly as long as you are not claiming a warranty on something that broke by a mod you did but dont give them the chance or put them in a situation where they have to void or refuse warranty work. I had my transmission pan dropped, new filter put in and new Amsoil tranny fluid put in. According to service notes they are supposed to run the Jeep until it reaches temps and monitor it with the Star Scan or something plugged into the OBDII so you never know.
ummm If I put my tune back to stock my cars not going to run. Well then again I guess I never would use warrenty since I dont have any thing stock any more to warrenty.
The warranty work it's going in for is a popped weld on the driver door top hinge , but they ran the VIN and said it required a couple of updates. I guess I'll put the stocker tune back in a couple of days before I take it in to be safe. Or I could just tell them not to mess with the updates, but could they put a void on the warranty if I refuse updates?
