    Believe it or not...
They even do Cryo treatment on spark plugs, to improve the insulating charactistics and performance of the anode that goes thru the insulator..

Let me add that his were 1 of 2 of the only 5.7 halfshafts to ever break and the other may have been trerated to but I am not sure

I wonder if it made them more brittle

Everyone of my 3rd gen Hemi builds have included a trip to the cryo tank for the short block.

Does it work.. ? Time will tell.

    Thos are great pics Ron.
I will show them to my Cryo/Hreat Treat shop.
Notice the grain structure toward the outside and how solid it looks, then the center looks like crap.....sot of "raw".

    Oh yea...
Not to seem too dumb.... but I have never handled a half shaft, nor expected them up close under my car.
How do those inner boots come off and what do they cover? Some kind of flexible joint? Does it come apart even more?

The Boots cover the CV joints. Yes, the come completely apart. The boots are held on by a press brackect.

Even if you have the shafts Cryo treated, it would only fair well with a mostly stock car (mildly modded that is). Once you start getting over the 600 BHP, the CV joints and cages need to be upgraded as well. Same goes with the splines. They will need to be upgraded as well.

Is that where most of the shafts break is at that spline to hub area?

Question for the Cryogenic experts, would there be any advatages to doing rims? or would forged still be the better option?

I was wondering when someone was going to revist this thread.
If someone wants to test a set of axles or another component here in SoCal. I can get it done for free, even a set of axles.
Your just obligated to test them. You know.... DRs and NOS on the drag strip. We won't get much info from a daily driver.
