So if someone where to see a picture of you and they said " You know you look like a mother in that picture you know homely" what would your interpretation be?

    Thoughts, comments or otherwise?

Well I am assuming since someone is being compared to their mother they are female...

So I would suggest shaving her pits, legs, and facial hair....

well yeah i agree that thats the definition....but it never comes off that way unless you talking about your grandmother lol

at best i'd say if i heard someone describe someone as "homely" that "plain" would be a word that comes to mind....

Kacie colored pants, white shirt, slippers, boring haircut, things like that lol

Impression is 99% of how it is taken... considering most people are not aware of the second definition of the word they will take it negatively... From the outside looking in is like you are covering up the fact you told her she looks homely....

    kinda like this:
Some guy: you can go fuck yourself
Other guy: What did you just say
Some guy: I have a booger hanging...

Which is exactly why the context should define the word, unless people think that mothers are ugly.

The really funny part is she was giving me shit saying that "homey" would have been a better word to choose and if you look up "homey" one of the synonyms is homely. lol

Um, I've always perceived homely as the first definition. If you'd just said "like your mother" or "like a mother" that could've been framed as a compliment, but homely? No, nothing good comes of calling a woman homely. I have cousins I'd describe as homely or plain...but never to their face.

Haha, get a clue Wade. When you're trying to pick up chicks in a bar any references to your mother or home should be taken to have negative connotations. That's like trying to convince her that earlier in the evening you called her a plain Jane as a compliment... "plain" : uncomplicated, uncluttered, no hidden issues...

Granted a lot of women look like clayface without any make up. Not every woman has a naturally good complexion, dark eyelashes or rosy lips/cheeks. I figured out a long time ago that when people ask if I'm feeling well, its probably because my face is washed out or I forgot to slap on some warpaint of some kind that morning. It was their polite way of saying I looked "homely" I'm guessing. I kind of get how you were trying to be nice...but yeah, homely is not the way to go about it. You could've said something like "natural" *gag*
