    I test drove a CTS-V today.

    Dammmmmmn...that is a nice ride.

    Sorry, I know I have been disloyal...but the performance numbers are mind numbing...it is just what GM should have been building for the past ten years.

    The car is swift and handles beautifully. I want one alone for an hour...I want to try a hand-brake 180 degree turn...

    Paddle shifters are kewl...but not very functional.

    I know I have done wrong...but as usual, the sin was very pleasurable.

    Don't feel that guilty....I hear they use the same size brake pad as the SRT8 ?

    Yup, they have Brembo's!

    I am severely tempted...but I am tempted by lots of things (I'm a college teacher...) and most of the time I resist the urges.

    Imho

    They are certainly nice rides. I've taken a test drive myself. Comfortable and quick. In the classic caddy style but with a more modern flare. However;

    A '07 CTS-V got onto the freeway (Highway 85 south at DeAnza) in front of me last week. Black, tinted windows around, black wheels, modded exhaust. He was angling to zip into the fast lane ...sensing my natural prey, I eased off the gas a bit and let him have plenty of room, he merged in front of me, and I pulled forward and got inside his personal bubble. He got the hint and opened it up and I sat in the same spot in his personal bubble up to 120. He lifted, I pulled up next to him, we slowed to about 60 and then both dropped the hammer ... :boxing::pelvicsmilieys::pelvicsmilieys::rock: 3rd CTS-V kill :)

    I bet he wishes he had spent $15,000 less and bought himself an SRT8. Tee hee. The new CTS-V's are even more expensive than that now ... tho you do get leagues more with the 09's.

    Even the new CTS-V's ... $70k loaded off the showroom floor, before you mod anything. For that price you have a 426 with a twin screw installed into your Jeep or Charger SRT and still have some scratch left for aesthetics. Or heads, cam, blower, and all the paint, bags, and stereo/tv crap you can need, want, or desire. So while they're nice ... and stock the CTS-V's '09's are faster than an SRT8 ... the 'Caddy Cost' in my humble opinion is a bit too much for what you're getting. Road and Track recently tested the M5 vs the new CTS-V. Racing a $100k car against a $70k car, when you can smoke both for significantly less cost than either for a comparable car in either a Vette or a modded luxury hot-rod like a 300 SRT with all the comfort and all the power.

    it is a lil snug

    there is no doubt the cts-v is a sweet ride...

    i actually looked at a 06-07 before I bought my 07 srt8..... the thing with the caddy any of the mods were thru the roof, and they had a big time of the rear snapping at the track.... big turnoff
