Over on LX forums, there are 2 seperate threads going, I made the 'connection' if you can call it that. Thoughts?!?! 1. From August of 2007 stating that Chrysler is considering a 7.0 liter (aka: 426) Hemi build to beat the LS engine to be placed in the new Slomaro (about 500hp). http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=88537 2. Someone with some kind of insight within Chrysler states that there will be a major announcement on November 15th. http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=88304 The only thing that would make me consider trading my current SRT8 is a BIGGER Hemi. There's alot of yapping about this stuff, I just wish they'd build the dang thing and make some kind of committment to never relinquish the 'Power Title' of the new muscle car era... kind of like they did in the 60's/70's... they played their Trump card (the 426) and nobody even tried to best it. We need that type of mentality today from Chrysler. Come out with a monster engine and end the debate for all time. Get some testes folks and just do it. They can't be worried about mpg... as our 6.1's will testify to... so what would hold them back?
TESTES, look who's talking the GREAT TESTELESS himself. Why would you buy another HEMI that might be bigger when you can upgrade your current HEMI for 10-15K and beat up on the bigger HEMI IMO!!!!!!!!!!!! Whatever it's worth.
You're 100% correct... but if its a production engine in a new car, we get a warranty... which, of course, after a month, I'd still wanna throw a blower on the dam thing anyway. So, yeah, you're right... but it'd still be cooler than sht owning a new 7 liter Hemi! The elephant engine would live again (outside of CMW, et.al).
You're MUCH more likely to hear about a production 392 than 426 next week. The 392 is ready to roll and reportedly has been undergoing heavy dyno testing - heavier than if it were to only be a crate motor offering.
You're right... but consider this: numerous places have been and continue to produce 7 liters... and these are smaller shops. CMW, for example, churns them out and those things are bullet proof. It really wouldn't be THAT big an issue to Dodge to bore the blocks out. Just a little re-tooling on the line, really. And considering they own their own software for the control modules... its not that big a leap, if you think about it (production-wise).
There is no doubt that they CAN do it, the question is whether they will. Don't forget that Dodge also has to take durability and production cost into account. Its easy to build 10 426's with a gearhead's money footing the bill and do it right. Its a whole other story to build 10,000 of them (with warranties) and to do it as cheaply as possible.
:imao:Yes and as soon as we burn up all the gas, we won't have anything to fight about anymore, I'm doing my part for the peace effort, and if it comes out I'll get one!!!:imao:
