It was a brand new drop light and it was dark outside (when most of my installs are done). Installing my wideband I needed to get behind the glove box, into the overhead console, and... under the car and in the engine bay. Under the car, installing the sensor, I only used the drop light for a minute but I did hang it on the side of the motor and narrowband cables. Then back in the car I hung it on the sun visors and the overhead console. doh... now I have a couple of smudges on the headliner. suggestions?
i have this stuff for auto carpet. its in a spray can and has bristles built into it. forget what its called, but got smudges off my headliner
Great. I've got that light grey headliner of unknown material and I didn't want to leave any sort of grease spots on it like gumout or googone would. If you can't remember the name just send me what you have left over :crying:
I think Mark's is probably better than what I was going to suggest, but in my wife's Jeep which also has a light grey headliner I used Power Out...it's a red and yellow bottle and that shiite works awesome! It got the smudge out from whatever it was. I also spilled coffee in my winter beater a few months ago (damn cupholder sucks on those Pontiacs) and used Power Out, and I gotta say, it got the stain right out and quick.
Hahaha I was just about to post something like this. I smudged my headliner when I did my wideband too.
They'll have to make that a standard addition to wideband install instructions. "Care must be taken not to get grease on the headliner"
What is that "wipe on" cleaning stick they advertised all the time on tv made by some well known maker of clothes washing detergent. Remember the comercial about the army dudes in a line and the stick was used to remove a stain on his shirt right before inspection. Who made that stuff?
Now I knpw...miracle of Google once again. Tide is the name. "Tide to Go" is what the stick is called. http://www.tide.com/en_US/tidetogo/index.jsp
Now that's a thought. but i'd expect that to be geared more towards fabrics. I think the headliner might be made out of something else. Maybe sort of think molded nylon?
dave - the best thing i have used and it worked perfectly after the dealer tech got dirty finger prints allllll over my headliner when fixing my sunroof, was spot shot on a clean terry cloth towel. spray spot shot on the towel blot the spots repeatedly wait to dry repeat as necessary do not rub, but rather be patient and blot the spots. DO NOT spray the spot shot directly on the headliner as it will leave a ring. this works wonders and is a sure fire way to get rid of the spots!!! if you rub or agitate the material of our headliners, it frays badly and looks like crap!!!
i have this exact same question...got in installing the trans temp gauge... im gonna have to give that BC stuff a shot...thanks marky!!
steve - follow my tips above...... if you spray anything directly on the head liner, or rub/agitate it at all, it will damage the headliner!!! trust me, I KNOW!!!!!
yeah i didnt see that...but ill have to give it a shot as i would be out of my mind if it got messed up hahaha
