Friend of mine is looking at buying an 06 CSRT with just over 6K on the odo. Extremely clean car and the seller has tons of pics but this one is making my buddy wonder if something's up... 2 Questions: 1). Didn't all Charger SRT's come with functional hoodscoop (has the proper hood but standard filter set up same as in my mag). 2). Ss overspray on the underside of the rear (beyond the black plastic shroud) a factory issue?...there's a reddish hue on this one.
When you say functional hoodscoop...do you mean it takes the air directly into the airbox?...in that case no...theres one after market intake that has a setup to take air from the hood scoop into the airbox...ohterwise its just a normal intake (see pic)... The intake box (on the bottom right) doesnt connect in any way to the hood... the air inlets in the hood (shown in the 2nd pic) just feed cold air into the engine bay No i do not think there should be overspray on it. But that could mean that its been repainted...so maybe accident?
Cool, Stevo and thanks for taking the time to post the pics...yeah, the engine compartment looks just like your so that's good (I dunno why I was thinking that it was factory direct to the intake box...must have a few members rides pictured in my minds eye). I'm gonna find the like to this guy's ride and you can tell me if you think it might have been rear-ended (easy EQ-er's) and repainted. Thanks meanwhile
it does....but let me take a glance under my car when i get home...i bought my car with 17 miles on it so if its on mine too its probably on most new ones
Funny, the underside of my car just looks grey... And yes, the SRT Chargers came standard with the hood scoop.
final verdict....i bought my car brand spanking new.... and i have the red stuff on there on mine as well....so its normal...
Yeah, looking under the hood and in the trunk and underbelly, you see that the factory paint wasn't the most um, professionally executed. Nevermind the orange peel and occasional bubbles that have been noted by some owners. Maybe that's part of why these are sub-$50k msrp cars and not as pricey as what we're competitive with performance wise. :thumb:
I HATE ORANGE PEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha.... if i had the money i'd get it repainted just for that reason alone...nice deep glass finish!!! oohhhh yeah!
Thanks for checking you two... an interesting detail if nothing else - at least now we know! Guess an owner could always matt black-it if they really felt the need but then that would be a rather silly mod.
Eh, with nearly 36k miles on the odo, I'm not really worried about displaying her underside at shows.
