Well, after going through my records, I discovered that the tranny fluid has never been changed. Yea, long story, but I was under the impression that the tranny was changed, oh, about 30K miles ago. Nope.

So, I went to my favorite Dealership to have the oil changed as well as the tranny fluid. The Director of Service is a good friend, so James and I decided to do the work ourselves since his only two techs were swamped.

Now, the Tranny has 52,550 extremely HARD miles on her, and yes, this is a bone stock OEM Transmission.

So James and I were placing bets on what we would find in the bottom of the pan... haha Anyway, got the pan off and to our surprise, the magnet had absolutely ZERO metal shavings. WOW! haha The fluid, on the other hand, was NASTY.

After close inspection, everything looks pretty damn good considering I have had 520+rwhp running through the transmission for four plus years and over 50K miles and over 300 trips down the 1320...

New fluid = nice firm and smooth shifts again. Hell, even the TC is back to its normal stall form. :)

    I be happy!!!!

That's cool Ron. That makes me think I would have been fine with my stocker for the life of my car.

Good to hear. Mine is almost at 50k and I was planning on servicing it soon. New fluid and new valve body. :)

Nice to hear, makes me think my tranny will last a while when I get everything sorted. Close now, just need to calibrate the guages, it should all be wired now.

Yes, I do agree these tranny's can hold their own, but if you have the $$$, I do recommend the upgraded tranny's.

    Better SAFE than sorry.

I am relieved to see how well the internals have held up. Especially with the abuse I have put 1bad4dr through. haha Oh, I forgot to mention the many 170 - 185 mph runs 1bad4dr has done.

Serviced mine at 35k, looked great. I think the threshold of the stock tranny is around 550rwhp.

I disagree. I have been running well over 550rwhp since Diablo finally came out with tuning. Actually, been sitting just under 600. No issues.

With the Paxton (No tuning), 11.8@120 (2800' DA)

Haven't really run with the Techco other than on my 22's and I ran a 13.0@115 (7000' DA).

I agree with Larry...we are splitting hairs. Dunno the magic number, but if I was pushing 600 (like 580 or above) I would be looking into at least a valve body. Ron, how are your shifts? Once I added DR's, i can feel the clutches slip a little when I stick it from about 30 mph and it drops two gears. Up shifts are fine....i'm pushing 500 whp right now. (11.90@115, 1.7 60')
Your savior of your tranny may be your street tires.

Ron, did you guys replace your pan gasket when you did your service? If so, do you have a part number? Thanks!
