Is this available???? My plan is to put the complete stock exhaust system back on, with the exception of the cats. I remember the stock exhaust system being pretty nice for sound at WOT, and relatively quiet for regular driving. Right now, my car is very loud with the set up I have, and the long tubes are very close to the pavement because it's really low. I want to keep the stance, but raise the ground clearance, mainly because my wife will be driving it alot. Where she works, their are lots of speed bumps. I may have to adjust the coil-overs also, but the LT's are the lowest part on the car (like 3 inches!), plus I have a leak on passenger side. I know I may have a slight power loss, but I see Kenne Bell pushing over 750whp through the stock catted exhaust, and their site claims NO POWER GAIN with aftermarket exhaust...Even if I do lose some power, it's a trade off i'm willing to live with. We have too many vehicles and not enough drivers, plus economic times aren't what they use to be. We are working towards spending less per month, so we plan on selling her Infinity M35, paying off the SRT and keeping the Jeep GC Laredo that's paid for. This will require me to remove the heads, which I would like to do any way to have a look inside. I plan on doing this relatively soon, so any help is appreciated.
Thanks...gave em a call, and yes they have them, private labeled as their own brand...but they want way too much for them for what they are...2 pieces of pipe with exhaust flanges. I would just go with my stock mids and cats, but I gave them away a few years ago to a forum member who wanted them for cut outs...anyone want to return the favor? I'll pay you for them, plus pay the freight....
I'll have a set of used Magnaflow high-flow cats for sale in 2-3 weeks, if you can wait a little bit.
PM's sent...thanks guys.... I called Eddie at SHR, he said he may have a set laying around with one upstream sensor bung with buggered up threads...I asked if it could be tapped and fixed, he said to come by and we would have a look...Problem with that is WHEN? Whith my schedule, it will be a few weeks until I can get over there...If nothing else pans out, I'll use him as last resort. Thanks Eddie.
That or just cut it out and weld in the new one. Think plasma torch and someone with moderate skills using it. or get a bung plug (another couple of bucks) and screw/weld that into the old one.
Or, after I gut cat, I could plug/weld up the bad thread upstream bung, and just use the downstream one for the upstream sensor and leave the down stream sensor off (it's turned off anyway)...I just need to get over there, it's not too far, like 60-70 miles, but have guys taking vacations and hard for me to get away during the week...Dunno if Eddie is there on Saturday.
I ended up buying the ones from Eddie @ SHR for 100 bucks...I tried removing the stuck sensor without success. Someone put a rear sensor in a front bung....I was going to gut the cats, and re-drill and weld a new bung for the front sensor...slept on it a few days and decided i don't want to have ghetto exhaust...so I opted for the HHP/Kooks catless mids. They should be here this week. I pulled heads, removed the Dynatech LT's, and installed the factory shorties. Also installed wide-band a/f gauge, fresh gaskets every where, plus a few other this and thats just to clean it up under the hood. Waiting on a few more things to get here to finish up the job...Hopefully be running by this weekend.
Sorry, I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes here, but I'm also in search of some (less expensive than new) non-catted mid pipes. I can't afford to go the long tube/cat delete route at the moment, but would like to get rid of the cats without requiring surgery by over-priced shops up here. T.I.A.
not stepping on anything....I feel ya pain, but in the end, i just bit the bullet and bought the ones from HHP...I did consider cutting the cats off and welding in some flexible pipe in place of the cats.
Interesting idea, but with the hourly rates up here (I'm no welder), I'd be better off try to find something used and install myself.
Your welcome to buy the stock mids I bought from SHR to have something to work with for a cat gut, same price, 100 bucks, and I'll pay shipping.
Yeah, someone installed a rear sensor in the front bung....I couldn't get it to budge...You could just leave it in there, then drill hole and have a new bung welded in (prolly 20 bucks). Or like Dave suggested, plasma cut it out and weld new bung in it's place. FYI, gutting cats isn't a fun job....but doable.
